problem #3

Accord

  • Automatic transmission
  • 275,000 miles

Alternator replaced 4 times. It only lasts about two weeks until another alternator is needed. A possibility is a short. It is possibly running on one diode instead of three. A noise is generated at start up, braking, and at night when there is an extra load on the alternator. Also when using the wipers.

Accord LXI

  • Manual transmission
  • 250,000 miles

My main complaint is not with the car itself, but the incompetence of anyone I asked prior to this. Had I taken it somewhere initially, I could have had the problem fixed back in March. Let this be a lesson to you: just because your friend's friend knows something about cars does not mean that's the person you should let under the hood.

I would just like to know why it is so hard to get any information on this car. Also why it is difficult to find a owner's manual.

My husband has put in two new alternators and the problem is still unresolved; and with out a manual it's hard to tell where to go next.

If someone out there can help me I would appreciate any information on this damn headache.
