To whom it may concern. We bought a new 2000 model year Honda Accord in Nov. 1999. At 22K miles (may-July 2001), the gas pedal git stuck when the car was not used for a while, like first thing in the morning. We had to step on it hard and released quickly. Then it was good for the rest of the day. We report this to the dealer (leith Honda). They fixed it and I have the report. A few months ago this problem re-occured. We have about 44K miles now. Leith Honda charged me $85 to fix it. They did not charge us the first time. Their reason is that my car is out of warranty and this sticky gas pedal problem is caused by gasoline. They further claimed that all other vehicles have the same problem because of the gasoline. They told me that I have to bring the car it and clean the throttle body on a regular basis. Otherwise this sticky gas pedal problem will continue to occur. I have so many car in the last 25 years and never heard of this kind of news. I am very concerned about the safety caused by the sticky gas pedal. What would you recommend me to do to fix the problem? I have names of the service manager and mechanic who performed the "cleaning". I also have report on hand which show the "repair" work. Please contact me if you need more info and fact. Thanks for your looking into this matter. Best ragards, kien.

Accord

The accelerator stuck and I applied the brakes but the car continued to go faster. The car continued to gain speed which resulted with the right side of the car going in the ditch. This caused the car to airborne. When the car landed it continued to plow forward for another 20 feet or so before stopping two feet from another ditch. I was applying the brakes the entire time with no results. Both of the air bags deployed which caused injury to my hand and arm.

The accelerator stuck and I was unable to get the car to slow down. I attempted pulling the emergency brake, putting the car in first gear, and applying the break with no response. This incident was recorded on a 911 call that I made during the entire event. I did give details of what I was doing to prevent the car from accelerating however all measures failed. I did eventually put the car in park and turned the key to get the vehicle to stop. Honda is now denying any malfuction.
