Accord EX

  • Automatic transmission

The car just stalls while driving. You have to shift into park, turn the car off and then restart it to reset the system. This happens a couple times a month, although Issue never occurs when its with the dealer.

Accord LX

  • Automatic transmission
  • 38,000 miles

I replaced the ECM (computer unit) a few months ago because the check engine indicated that the computer is not communicating with the engine properly. The dealer and my mechanic recommended replacing the unit. I replaced with a used one that I got from the junk yard. The problem went away but new issues surface.

Pro-after replacing the unit, it is more fuel efficient. Con-engine works especially hard when going up a small hill and where the freeway is on an upward slop. It has trouble going above 50 or 60 MPH or stall at that speed but will go back to normal on regular road. I tried to accelerate by pressing the pedal but it hardly goes above the stalled speed.

Anyone has any idea what's going on? Car runs find on regular roads but the engine is much more noiser than before I replace the ECM.

My car that I just took possession of 2 hours prior just stopped as I was driving 35mph. It felt like the engine was not getting fuel to keep going. I am hoping this is not a computer problem. Any idea? anyone?
