The contact owns a 2003 Honda Accord. The rod that holds the trunk in place fell down on her head. She noticed that the trunk rod was covered with rust. The dealer was informed of the failure and advised her to bring the vehicle in to be repaired under warranty. The manufacturer was contacted and also informed her to contact the dealer and NHTSA. They offered no additional assistance. The failure mileage was 88,000.

While driving at 60 mph consumer noticed that the trunk was open. Consumer examined the vehicle, and found that the latches and the hinges were rusted. Dealer examined the vehicle and simply put wrong straps on the trunk to keep it shut.
