Accord EX 4 cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 103,000 miles

I have a 2005 Honda Coupe EX with about 103,000 miles on it.It is not a new car but far from ready for the junkyard.

A recent, expensive problem put me in real danger and zinged my budget. A master switch shorted out. It then caused BOTH motors in both of my windows to fail and the passenger side door would not open. If I had been in an accident or been in a flood or ended up in a river, etc...I would have been trapped inside the car due to windows that wouldn't open plus a passenger side door that was inoperable.

I also have an electrical failure of my factory installed GPS NAV system which will cost me hundreds to replace (it hasn't worked for 3 years.) I called Honda to ask for a partial reimbursement for the repairs and was flat out refused....I will think long and hard about buying a Honda in the future or recommending a Honda to anyone within earshot.

The dealership that I work with couldn't be more professional...they are great...Burns Honda, Marlton Nj.The parent company--Honda--not so much.

Accord EX-L 3.0L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 54,000 miles

This failed by starting to become intermittent, then got worse and worse. I Googled this issue and found out its not hard to replace yourself. 1-2 hours. The part was just under $23.00 much much cheaper than having the dealership replace it. If I remember correctly the dealer wanted 6-8 times the price to replace just one..

I did not expect this from a Honda. Thought it was supposed to be reliable and well built. Very disappointed!!

Accord Hybrid 3.0lV6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 45,000 miles

About 5 months after purchasing this car, the driver side door lock would not open with the key fob. It would open with the key in the lock. Very soon after, the passenger door experienced the very same problem except that it would not open even with the key in the door lock. It could only be opened from the inside. I have owned Hondas before including 2 civics and a pilot and never had any problems with any of them ever! That is why I bought this car and now I am very disappointed in the brand. That is why my newest car is a Toyota Camry and not a Honda. I even bought an extended warranty for my Honda and this repair may not be covered by it!! Too bad for Honda as it is highly unlikely that I will ever own another one! Good news for Toyota, however, as my next car to replace the Honda when the time comes will most likely be a Camry Hybrid.
