Accord SE 3.0L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 150,700 miles

Noticed that my car didnt switch from the dashboard vents to any other airflow modes despite the leds above the buttons indicating the mode i've selected. AC and heaters unaffected. Theres a built in hvac diagnostic test for these hondas so I peformed that, the test resulted in a code telling me that theres a malfunction with the airflow mode control motor.

Did more research online and found out that the lowest point in the track on the motor is the selection for the dash only vents and that they can potentially hang and bind up on it. Inspect the motor and gears first, clean and lubricate them up if needed and operate the hvac airflow modes with the motor out to see if it still operates. If it still operates, place it back in and see if it changes modes, if not replace the motor.
