My cd player displays 'ERR' when I trying to play CDs. Radio works fine but it seems like the CD player is basically died. I googled for this problem and it seems like many people have this problem. I am really disappointed by HONDA for using cheap stereo in their cars. I guess my next car won't be a Honda.

firstly, the 6-CD in-dash player diplayed "MECH ERR" upon trying to change automatically from tray 3 to tray 4 when last track of CD in tray 3 has been played. I tried to select tray 4 manually, it wouldnt respond. I then tried ejecting the CD in tray 4, it still did not respond. I pressed and held the eject button hoping to eject all th CDs after the beep sound, still no response.
I got home and then disconnected the Battery terminals for about 15mins as suggested by a friend, things went from bad to worse after reconnecting the battery terminals, because right now, i cannot even access the CD Mode not to mention operaating the unit. All other stuffs AC, radio etc still works. Please any useful suggestion will be appreciated.

I have a 2007 Accord - cd player had an "error" message and stopped working in Dec 2007 - dealer replaced it under warranty
Happened again in Jan of 2010 - out of warranty. They want $800 to replace it - or - I can have it sent out for repair, but heat/ac system is disabled when the stereo is removed.
Asked the dealer why in the world would I spend $800 for something that has failed twice? They suggested I call Honda customer service - was a waste of time, they didn't want to hear anything.
Tell me the rotors are bad, the front wheel fell off, etc - I can go along with these as wear and tear becomes the issue. I seriously doubt the CD player has any idea how long it's been in the car or how many miles are on it.
Short and sweet - the stereo is NOT something I should have to concern myself with. Been driving for 35 years and have NEVER had a factory audio system go bad, and twice at that.
