problem #1

Accord EX-L 2.4L

Vehicle airbag light began to flash on and off randomly when driving. Attempted to read codes with no luck. Unplugged battery and tried a few other things, no luck. Vehicle was taken into Wilde Honda in Madison WI.

They determined that the issue was a short in the drivers side airbag inflator. This I believe was the exact same issue with the passenger side airbags and the reason for the airbag recalls for this exact car. Dealer said they could replace the passenger side airbag free of charge, but to fix the drivers side airbag it would have to be paid out of pocket. Diagnosis was a waste of money as they didn't even document the problem on paper, as if they're trying to hide something or not leave a paper trail. Regardless we have it on video. Contacted Honda corporate who were even less willing to help and seemed to have been dealing with a ton of calls regarding this issue. The representative I was speaking to had an attitude and was answering questions without fact checking them, just trying to get me off the phone.

There is no option for escalation aside from the case # and them documenting the issue. I believe this to be a very dangerous situation and the car will not be driven unless it's resolved. There are 100's of complaints online over this exact issue. Honda needs to step up and take responsibility here. A complaint was also put in with NHTSA and will continue to pursue this until there's a conclusion. I was a Honda lifer but not any more. The way they are ignoring this issue makes me question their morality. Toyota went ahead and replaced all the airbags, but Honda refuses.
