problem #12

Accord

  • Automatic transmission
  • 40,000 miles

This problem of hesitation upon starting from a stop. It will not let you go past 20-25 miles per hour, then it pulls back like it is not going to the next level, and it has been going on since September 2019. Now it is March 2020 and it is starting again. Mechanic put a new sensor in and that seemed to stop it. New battery, starter, oil change etc. - everything else is fine. But here we go again.😬

Accord V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 146,000 miles

I am scared to keep driving this car. Several times per week for the past few months my car hesitates when I push the pedal to accelerate. I do not switch feet as I've seen some users note. The lurching has occurred from a full stop at a traffic light, and it also has occurred when I'm moving slowly in rush hour traffic and go to accelerate. The car goes but then lurches forward. It sounds to me like the car is going to stall when it lurches. I am afraid if this gets worse it will lurch into the rear end of another vehicle. Most recent instance was 4/27/20. The first time this problem occurred was 2/3/20 and my car mileage was well over 100k miles. This did not happen ever for the previous owner.

Accord EXL 2.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 40,000 miles

Seems like throttle not working right, does not downshift correctly most of the time. Dealer checked it out says nothing wrong....can be dangerous passing cars as you never know when it won't shift right...also surges and hesitates at the same time...no codes but has been happening for 50k miles.

Accord SE 2.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 5,000 miles

This problem is caused by using the brake pedal and the gas petal at the same time. If you try to take off from a stop and accelerate at the same time you let off the brake pedal the engine will stumble and hesitate for 1-2 seconds.YOU MUST USE ONLY YOUR RIGHT FOOT ON BOTH PEDALS!!! This will fix the problem, but Honda should have addressed this problem long before now.

Accord SE V4

  • Automatic transmission
  • 42,000 miles

I PURCHASED THIS 2012 HONDA ACCORD ON JANUARY 28, 2015. IT SEEMED GREAT IN THE BEGINNING THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN I GET TO A STOP SIGN, I STOPPED, THEN WHEN IT WAS CLEAR FOR ME TO GO I TRIED BUT THE CAR DID NOTHING. THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN IT LUNGES FORWARD. SO I TOOK THE CAR BACK A FEW DAYS LATER TO LET THE DEALERSHIP KNOW ABOUT THE PROBLEM. THEY COULDNT FIND ANYTHING WRONG OF COURSE. SO I CONTINUED TO DRIVE, MIND YOU THIS IS MY ONLY MEANS OF TRANSPORTATION, SO I'M LIKE STUCK. ABOUT THREE MONTHS LATER I TOOK THE CAR IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND I COMPLAINED AGAIN THEY SAID THEY CHECKED AGAIN BUT FOUND NOTHING. SO NOW ITS DEC 1, 2015 THE PROBLEM IS HAPPENING MORE OFTEN AND MANY TIMES A DAY. I SURE HOPE THAT NO ONE HAS TO DIE OR GET BADLY INJURED BEFORE THEY DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS.

Accord XLE L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 5,100 miles

Car hesitates when trying to accelerate. Seem particularly dangerous when try to turn left across traffic. Never 100% sure the car is actually going to "go" when I hit the gas pedal. So far it has always gone but only after a half second or so delay. Typically happens as I transition from slowly moving forward under a trailing throttle to try to accelerate when making a left turn.

Accord XLE L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 5,100 miles

My 2012 Accord V6, it's dangerous to turn left across traffic because you don't know if it's going to go or not. Mine has 5100 miles on it. 99% of the time it's fine but once a day, a few times per week, this happens to me. Dealership can't find anything wrong or admit there's a problem. Called Honda Corporate and they were useless and said they had no technical engineers I could talk to and to take it to my dealership. The car was already at the dealership and they couldn't fix the issue either.

Accord E-LX Coupe 3.5L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 21,900 miles

This problem is OBVIOUSLY a known problem, and a potential lawsuit waiting to happen. Honda needs to step up and fix the problem or notify the owners before someone gets injured. (if they haven't already).

Accord EX 4 cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 19,000 miles

This problem is dangerous enough I would not let my granddaughter , who has a learners permit, drive the car . On 6-21 2013 I pulled into a busy gas station , I accelerated to move up to the pumps , their was a hesitation , I pressed down on the accelerator their was nothing , then a sudden lurch forward . I had to hit the brake . My wife looked at me and said "what are you doing ?". I responded " it's not me , it's the car " . On 6-23 -2031 I was braking slightly because traffic was slowing in front of me .I didn't come to a complete stop and accelerated to move on with traffic . Their was no response , I slowly accelerated more with no response , then the car suddenly lurched forward . On 6-26-2013 , 6-27 -2013 , etc , etc , etc . I made an appt. to take it in to the Dealer ( Tracy Honda ) . On the morning of the appt. the car was operating properly . The car continues to have this issue but I can't replicate this for the dealer but they know they have this issue ....... The told me so ,,,,,,Why don't they have a fix for it ?

Update from Aug 27, 2013: The problem was " Operator Error ". I was allowing my left foot to come in contact with the brake while my right foot was on the accelerator . I started experimenting with this and was able to duplicate the problem . I am surprised that the Dealership didn't figure this out ,,,,,,

Accord 2.4L I-Vtec 4 cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 200 miles

Purchased new 2012 4DR EX-L with auto transmission three weeks ago. In first 150 miles of driving had a hesitation on starting from a stop occurred about a dozen times. Most often when easing into traffic. Depress the accelerator gently and nothing happens till you jiggle it. Worst time starting across light rail tracks I felt the dead spot. I slowly depressed the accelerator until it reached the floor. I'm still setting there commanding full throttle. If it had suddenly engaged, I would have leaped across the intersection, probably having an accident. Scary.

Accord LX

  • Automatic transmission
  • 4 miles

I just bought a 2012 honda accord LX. When driving I come to a stop or red light I mash gas to go it goes then hesitates about 5 seconds then goes normal. It is scary when you give it the gas and it goes nowhere. Had it to the honda place 2 times they said its up to specs. Just want to know if anyone else has this problem it is a serious one. For a new car it should not be doing that. I would like to let MR Honda drive it and see how he likes it in the middle of traffic.
