Honda continues to refuse to publicly admit that they have a widespread problem with the 2013/2014 cvt transmission. After multiple trips to the Dealer and contacting Honda America, I learned that Honda has issued service bulletin 15-077 to fix this problem. So, let's see, Honda continues to deny that they have a widespread design flaw, but they have released a service bulletin to fix the problem... mmmmmmm. If your car intermittently acts like it is in neutral even though it is in gear when starting from a cold start (after sitting for several hours), insist that your Dealer perform service bulletin 15-077 while still under the 5 yr power train warranty. If you don't get this done whole still under warranty, you will be looking at a better than $500 out of pocket fix. So sad, but Hondas are just not what they used to be...

Accord EXL 4

  • CVT transmission
  • 22,000 miles

Long-standing problem with transmission, occasional delayed engagement when backing out of garage after standing all night (also happened once in forward gear). When put in reverse, car barely moves for 4-5 seconds, then moves normally. Has been in to dealer several times, problem has not been reproduced. Service order shows "updated PCM with latest software" - problem not solved. At last time to dealer, was kept for 2 days, said Honda technical rep could provide no solution and that delay of "up to 4 seconds" is "normal". There was no acknowledgement that this is a reported problem, and I think Honda's way of dealing with the problem is to refuse to acknowledge it. Any insight from others would be welcomed.

WHEN IT'S COLD AND YOU START THE CAR IT TAKES A FEW SECONDS TO ENGAGE. THIS IS IN REVERSE OR FORWARD. BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALER AND ALL THEY SAID WAS " YOU HAVE TO WARM YOUR CAR UP", WHICH IS BULLSHIT.
