While traveling at 70 mph on I-80 in Indiana, without warning, the right rear trailing arm broke away from the frame of the vehicle causing loss of control. The vehicle swerved across both West bound lanes four times before coming to a stop. Luckily it was early morning and there were no other vehicles near us. We were towed to a Honda dealer in Fort Wayne and they verified the vehicle was not repairable. The insurance company also had an adjuster inspect the vehicle and confirm it was not repairable. The vehicle was left in Indiana and we had to rent a vehicle to continue our trip home to Wisconsin. I don't understand why there isn't a recall or TSB issued for the problem stated with this vehicle. It's a known problem that's documented here and other places on the internet. Canada had a recall but American Honda and the NHTSA don't seem to acknowledge it.

A part of the rear suspension failed, caused the rear wheel to turn while driving at highway speed. Lost control and crashed. I do have possession of the vehicle, I can make it available. Safety - No control of vehicle- safety and life of myself and any other vehicle around me were at risk. Vehicle was inspected by the insurance company to determine value. No warnings, and the affected area looked acceptable. I am regularly under this vehicle, it has been inspected regularly.

Yes our safety was put at risk my husband was driving the car when this occurred. The rear frame stiffener rusted and broke, the tire almost came off in the process. There were no warnings prior to the event and Honda didn-€™t reach out notifying us of this problem that they were aware of. The vehicle is available for inspection. The vehicle hasn-€™t been inspected. We reached out to Honda regarding this and they haven-€™t wanted to do anything about it. https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2021/MC-10189133-0001.pdf https://hondanews.ca/en-CA/hci-corporate/releases/release-ab89226b670509f394802c0ef6b6a0e36e3789d2-statement-by-honda-canada-inc-regarding-safety-recall-2007-11-honda-cr-v

While performing maintenance on the car, I found that the left (drivers) rear mounting bracket which is a part of the frame/body, and hold the right rear trailing arm - holding the rear axle was severely rusted and cracking apart from corrosion. The right (passenger) bracket showed no rust damage. This problem has been reported by others, and Canada has found the same issues and issued a recall for this car/vin group. Although this car is 15 years old, this thick 3/8" heavy metal bracket should not have disintegrated like this even with the salt used on the highways, and is shown with absolutely no issue with the right (passenger side)bracket. Upon taking it to the dealer, there was nothing they could do, nor could they get the "fix" being used in Canada or any other information as to how they are correcting this problem. Suggestion is to buy a new car or take it to a body shop and see if they could fabricate a repair. Honda dealer did not seem to be too concerned about this rust, so I will have to go elsewhere to have it evaluated. From what I have found here on the internet, this is a serious problem, and when it breaks as it has for others, you loose control of the car because the axle is now only attached to one side of the car. If there is a fix for this, (as they have one in Canada) they should be compelled to provide it. This isn't a who pays for the repair. It's been known for some time now, and they should have already addressed this. But to withhold the safety fix isn't acceptable.

On March 20, we were driving 2007 Honda CRV in the city of Worcester, MA at ~20mph when we heard a large "Clunk" followed by a dragging noise and immediate skidding of the vehicle. We were not able to get the vehicle to the side of the road. When it was safe to get out, we noticed the rear wheel was broken and parallel to the ground. The police came and had the car towed to East Side Auto Center 235 Shrewsbury Street Worcester, MA 01604 508-798-9100 Contact Person = Frank Santamaria Upon inspection, Mr. Santamaria informed us that the frame was completely rotted in the rear, causing the suspension components to separate from the frame. He further stated that repair was not possible. In researching the issue, I found that Honda Canada had recalled 2007-2011 Honda CRV's for this same defect. As part of the recall, Honda Canada was buying back eligible vehicles or repairing them at their expense. I filed a claim with Honda America and was denied any compensation. There are several complaints on the internet for the same issue. https://Such a catastrophic failure poses a serious safety issue, especially if the failure happens in a congested area, on a highway at elevated speeds, or in a rural area where assistance is not readily accessible. I believe Honda should recall these vehicles before someone gets injured or killed from their neglegence.

While driving vehicle on 07/01/2021 the right rear trailing arm disconnected from the right rear frame rail due to corrosion. Transport Canada issued a recall (#2019-025) for 83,953 Honda CR-V's sold new in Canada for this problem. My Honda CR-V was manufactured at the same plant as those recalled in Canada. The reason for the recall in Canada was because these vehicles were driven on roads treated with deicing materials, much the same as vehicles driven in Illinois. This vehicle has not been inspected by American Honda. This is a clear safety issue due to the nature of the suspension becoming detached with no notice.

Driving down a secondary road at 40 mph, the car made a loud crashing and scraping spud. This made the driver duck and cover as it felt that the car had seen struck by something. The car then began to veer out of control. The rear end began to fishtail left into the opposite lane then back again. The car then quickly came to a laid scrapping stop on the side of the road. When exiting the vehicle the drivers side rear tire was facing perpendicular to the road exposing broken metal and frame rail. Luckily no one was killed.

As I was driving down a city street, the right rear suspension control arm came loose from the frame. The right wheel tire subsequently became lodged against the rear of the wheel well at an angle. I was able to maneuver the car to the side of the road. Police arrived to block off the nearest lane so I could safely be towed from the scene, as the car was undrivable. I am fortunate that this did not happen at high speed, as I do not believe I would have safely been able to maintain control of the vehicle. The control arm came loose due to excessive rust on the frame. The area around the mounting location for the arm is torn away from the frame, the nuts and bolts are still attached to the fragments of frame they were originally mounted to. This model year CRV is under recall for excessive corrosion in Canadian provinces where road salt is extensively used in winter. This model was purchased in Minnesota, where road salt is extensively used in winter.

Driving at 30 mph, just got off the highway doing 70 mph, almost at home when making a left turn the drivers side rear wheel broke off of frame, stuck in middle of the road, police had vehicle towed to shop where I was told that the frame had rusted out and car was basically totaled. Could have been killed if happened on highway and or killed someone else. Went online and saw that Honda Canada had a recall for this exact reason. Someone is going to get killed in these 2007-2011 carbs. Why Canada and not usa. This is a very dangerous situation!!!!!

It is more of a concern than a complaint as of right now. Transport Canada has issued a recall for 2007-2011 Honda Cr-vs (https://wwwapps.tc.gc.ca/saf-sec-sur/7/vrdb-bdrv/search-recherche/detail.aspx?lang=eng&rn=2019025) that operate in Ontario, quebec and maritime Canada where road salt is used for winter road de-icing. I live in state which borders quebec. We have a similar climate and rely heavily on road salt for winter road de-icing. The recall issued by Transport Canada (# 2019025) identifies that road salt can cause the rear frame to rust. And this corrosion could potentially result in a rear-trailing arm separating from the vehicle. Honda has provided a remedy. Vehicles are inspected to ascertain the safety of the vehicle. Vehicles that pass the inspection are applied a sealant to protect against future corrosion. Vehicles that fail the inspection are either repaired or bought back by Honda. Given that usage of road salt in northeastern states that border Canada is most likely comparable to the identified region where the Transport Canada recall applies, shouldn't vehicles operating in regions of the us that rely heavily on road salt be subject to the same level of safety scrutiny?

Bought vehicle used in 2008 with 18,000 miles. After several weeks began to realize there was a definite pull to the right. Went to a local dealer for maintenance over the past five years and mentioned this pull. Each time I was told they did not identify any pull. When I took my car in this week they said they were able to identify a pull and they suggested an alignment and many other maintenance tasks totaling $3,700. I replaced my tires and this helped some what, but the pull still exists. After checking various sites, I've come to realize pulling to the right is a common issue in Honda Cr-vs.

The contact owns a 2007 Honda CRV. The contact stated that while driving approximately 20 mph, a loud grinding noise emitted from the outside of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer who stated the failure was contributed to the front driver's side wheel bearing. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 50,000.

1st failure was tires in rear of the vehicle were worn on the inside causing the tire to deflate. Returned to the dealer asking them what happened. They blamed the tire manufacturer. Put new tires on had all the necessary dealer scheduled maintenance. Rotation ect. The new tires installed at 42,000 began to shimmy badly in the rear of the vehicle at 63,000 miles. Took the vehicle to a Honda dealer in fl and the tires had to be replaced in the rear because of the same wear as the 1st set. The rear suspension can not be adjusted to correct this problem. The solution was after market (not Honda mfg parts) with an adjustable arm. The camber can now be adjusted to make the vehicle safe to drive, the tires would have worn out in an area not easy to see an cause a blowout at high speed would be a real problem. Honda Corp will not admit fault. I see many people on the internet with the same problem as I experienced. The extended vehicle ins. I purchased will not pay for this problem. They say Honda has modified this part and they will not pay. This should be a recall in my opinion because of the safety issue. I was lucky to have my tire failure occur at a slow speed. At 70 mpg it would have been bad and everyone would have blamed the tires. But the real problem is the vehicle's unable to adjust the alignment to stop abnormal tire wear. Honda and all the dealers are in denial of the problem.

I purchased my CR-V as a certified used car with 7000 miles. The tire noise kept getting louder as the miles grew. By 18,000 miles I couldn't take it and went to the dealer. They said my tires were cupped and needed replaced. I put new tires on and had it aligned by the dealer. They could not get it in spec and replaced the rear springs. They aligned it, but I still had tire noise. Dealer said I bought cheap ($125/pc) tires. These tires are also now cupped so bad at 50,000 miles that I need to replace them, a 70K tire with only 30K on them. I also smell hot rubber on the rear passenger tire much like others have said, and only this tire. Coincidently this one is the cupped noise maker.

2007 Honda CRV produced in Japan has defective shock absorber assemblies which allow the car to bounce undamped on rough road surfaces and can lead to loss of control. The us manufactured units do not exhibit this behavior. Additionally Honda lists different replacement parts for the us and Japanese built 2007 models so the parts are not interchangeable.

Defective front and rear shock absorbers lead to excessive pitching of vehicle even on minor uneven asphalt. Owners with this defect are swerving their vehicles to avoid rough pavement increasing risk of collisions. As I understand it the problem is due to a defective batch of shock absorbers included on some Japanese built 2007 crvs. Us built units seem to have avoided this issue.
