We've owned the vehicle for about 2 and a half years and we've had the front brakes serviced twice due to loud grinding noises but the bigger issue is with the rear brakes.
The caliper seized on it twice resulting in replacing the rotors and pads both times. The car gets its yearly checkups and maintenance as we should. We do a lot of driving with it as we live in the country but work in the city (aprox. 50km/day) as well as any traveling.
The first time this happened Honda Canada was nice enough to cover it. Not even a year later we have the exact same problem with the exact same rear brakes. The service B notification had just came on about a month before the grinding started to become noticeable and unbearable within 3 days of driving. Our intentions was to have the B service done at the same time as our winter tire installation but the grinding kind of pushed us to move on it much quicker so again, about a month after the B service notification came on.
I am completely willing to to accept the brakes wearing down after 40km (usual warranty is for 1 year or 20k so that's completely acceptable) what I don't like is the caliper seizing up so quickly and burning out my rotors. Again, it makes perfectly good sense that the pads be worn down, but for the caliper to seize like that so frequently tells me there something else at play here.
Also, speaking with other CR-V owners, their biggest complaint is how often they need to replace their braking systems. Compared to a Toyota owner I know, we're getting the raw end of the deal re:brakes.
