rodents chewing through wiring rodents chewing through wiring

Back in November around the 6th I was driving and noticed my left blinker was out. I took it to the shop we go to thinking it was just a bulb. Turns out the wires from the bulb socket to the rest of the wiring running along the front where that connect were completely chewed away along w/the black outer casing (made with Soy). I've since researched this problem and found many similar complaints due to the fact that years 2012-1015 had the wire casing made with SOY to be "eco friendly". This soy attracts rodents, ie: squirrels particularly. I had to get a whole new bulb socket and after they fixed the wiring I had them wrap them in tape I bought online MADE BY HONDA to deter rodents- it has capsacin in it. This cost around $135 to do. Next I bought a device that you install under the hood and attach to your battery that emits a sound to also deter rodents. Thought that was the end of it.

It wasn't. On 12/14/17 I was out at night when someone stopped me to tell me that my back lights were completely out. I got out to look and sure enough, completely dark in the back of my car. No tail lights at all. I drove the car with my flashers on to my mechanics place immediately and left it there overnight w/a note saying what was going on. He started working on it around 7am next day. About 2pm I called to see what was going on. He said that it's the wiring again. This time they chewed a whole bunch of wires under where I had the prior issue. I wire was completely broken off, others chewed up and the black soy coated casing was GONE. Chewed pieces of it are visible in pictures. The squirrels also chewed on my battery tray. As for the tape Honda came out w/to deter rodents from chewing- well they started chewing on that too from the first time.A few blew too due to the wires chewed and one breaking shorting things out.

My car was not finished being "fixed" until almost 6pm. I have to get it today and I'm not expecting the bill to be as low as the first time. I contacted my dealer and I also contacted Honda Customer service when it happened the first time telling them all that occurred along with picture. This is the response I got back from them- "Per your warranty booklet, the warranty does not protect against outside influences & damages. At this time, your warranty can only cover manufacturer defects and would not be able to cover the wiring damage caused by rodents".

Nice response isn't it? The warranty won't/can't cover damage to the wiring caused by rodents even though they have made a special tape to deter them from chewing on the wires because of the soy coating. As for my dealer, I emailed her last night about this latest incident and she said that she was going to have the manager "get on the problem 1st thing in the morning (today) & she emailed him my letter along w/the pictures. So far I've not heard a word from them. Absolutely disgusted w/Honda. So for now my car is fixed. I'll bring it home and what is to prevent it from happening again?
