I was driving on I-5 about 70 mph, suddenly the car started running rough and speed dropped immediately to 10-12 mph. The check engine light came on. I immediately pulled to the side of the road. After a minute or so the car returned to normal. I continued driving to the next dealer and had them inspect the car. They could find nothing wrong and gave me back my car. After driving an additional 15 minutes the same thing happened only the check engine light and many other warning lights came on and flashed. Once again I pulled to the side of the road and was towed to the dealership. They then changed the oil, replaced a fouled spark plug, adjusted the fuel injector settings and replaced the climate control unit. Honda has been unable to explain to me why this would solve the problem long term.

I owned my 2017 Honda CRV for 2 years with ~43000 miles on it. Feb 28th 2020 I got the emission control error or check engine light, its steady light not blinking, while driving on the highway. I did not have it service recently or filled gas. A car with 43K miles has emission issues just seems poor design.

The contact owns a 2017 Honda CRV. The contact stated fuel penetrated the engine oil. The contact inspected the vehicle oil level and found that the dip stick also had fuel. The failure was experienced numerous times. The vehicle was taken to russ darrow Honda located at 10851 w metro auto mall, milwaukee, wi 53224, (414)-586-5400, to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that that engine oil was consistent and also that the engine operated as intended with the design of the fuel injectors. The mechanic also did not find excess oil while the vehicle was being inspected. The manufacturer extended the warranty on the vehicle due to possible gas/oil dilution. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 2,645. The VIN was invalid.

While driving on city streets numerous system warnings sounded and illuminated, and several vehicle systems became disabled. Gasoline seeping into engine oil caused these issues which include electric parking brake problem, TPMS problem, brake system problem, brake hold system problem, AWD system problem, adaptive cruise control problem, collision mitigation system problem, road departure mitigation system problem, and emissions system problem. The dealer found the engine oil to be saturated with gasoline which according to them caused faults in the other systems.

26,000 miles had the new car towed and determined brake booster assembly caused several warning lights and disabled the vehicle. 1 year later at 46,000 had the car towed determined to be fuel injector and pipe set off codes and vehicle was disabled. Both times, I had the vehicle parked in a parking lot, was able to start it, but could not move it due to multiple failures. Every oil change I ask if there are any vehicle recalls and they always look up the VIN and determine my particular vehicle is not on the list. Apparently is should be.

On 1/8/20 when I started my car in the morning all warning lights came on before leaving the driveway, and stayed on all the way to work, and back. Then again the following morning. I called Honda on 1/9/20, they advised to come in sooner than later. Car is at Honda now 1/10/20, they are stating all codes may be due to two codes that need to be fixed: P0302 (fuel injection), which is covered under warranty and U0129 lost communication with braking system due to A/C control unit - which will cost me $1630 for a car with only 60,000 miles on it! of note: The car's emergency brake while driving has triggered a couple of times, and all warning lights have come on before in heavy rain.

Vehicle was driven Friday 1/3/2020 in a mix of driving that included thirty-five miles at 70mph+ and secondary trip of ten miles in town that was a mix of traffic lights and slow moving traffic. While driving vehicle in slow moving traffic cabin of vehicle filled with gas fumes, first faintly, but became worse until headache and nausea occurred. Vehicle was eventually parked and rested for ten minutes to check oil along with interior air refresh. While checking oil I observed the oil level.75 inches above the full mark on the dip stick with an overall strong odor of fuel. Engine operated as it always has, no check engine light, and no evidence of drive ability problems. Oil level was also observed to be.75 inches above full mark 11/24/2019 and subsequent photo was taken. Oil was changed 1/4/2020 at 50,189 with oil life at 50% with 5,714 miles. Prior oil change service occurred at 44,475 miles on 8/27/2019 and the oil level was verified at full line. Fuel smells have been noticed in this vehicle since 300 miles on odometer. Vehicle was brought to dealer December 12/2017 for fuel smell complaint but no rectification made. 12/2018 the dealer performed tsb 18-114 which included HVAC module replacement, and reprogram tcu and PCM, and change oil. After this much anticipated update virtually no change was observed as oil rise and fuel smells continued to occur. During the winter of 2018-2019 oil rise increased.50" above full mark at 5000 mile oil, but premium fuel was utilized consistently. We also observed very few instances of gas smell in cabin. Manufacturer has communicated this vehicle does not require premium fuel. This vehicle is driven mostly highway miles, 25 miles per trip at 70mph+. our driving situation contradicts the manufacturer explanation of short trips as cause of excessive oil dilution by fuel.

My 2017 Honda CR-V has an issue with gasoline getting into the engine oil, which is raising the oil level, turning the oil black, and making it smell of gasoline. I fear that this is thinning the oil to the point where it is not protecting the engine from wear.

Gas gets in the oil, gas fumes go into the car itself and make us dizzy while driving (not safe). Car sputters (not safe) and heater does not get warm enough to keep the windshield clear in cold weather reducing viability and creating a safety issue. It takes 15 minutes of driving for car to warm up, I don't know how to see out of the windshield for the first 15 minutes. I'm aware this is a known issue with my model, I would like Honda to do a recall and really actually fix it. Dealer says there is no fix at this time. The service campaign isn't working. I'm reading that the 2019 were supposedly fixed with the same service campaign and it's not working.

On 10/16/2019, dealer replaced all of the fuel injectors, because they failed Honda's tests. Picked up the vehicle on the evening of 10/16/2019 and drove it home. Started driving it to work on 10/17/2019 and while accelerating on the interestate, the engine started misfiring (violent thuds) and the check engine light started flashing repeatedly. I lost power and was able to make it to the side of the road. As soon as the vehicle was stopped, I placed the vehicle in park and then the check engine light no longer blinked or illuminated. Had the vehicle towed to the Honda dealership. Vehicle did not misfire prior to the repairs made by Honda. Attached is the fuel injector repairs invoice. I also had all required maintenance as indicated in the Honda service manual. Vehicle has approximately 61000 miles.

Started the vehicle to go home and "emissions system problem" appeared on the dash, along with a check engine light. I was stationary and in a parking lot. Was able to drive it back home. Took vehicle to Honda dealer on 10/14/2019. Determined it was a misfire of the fuel injectors and they needed to be replaced. I also had the vehicle serviced as recommended by Honda since purchasing it new, which included engine induction service. Had 59680 miles on the odomoeter and has the 1.5L turbo engine. I also had all recalls completed when notified.

Emissions issue detected, then eventual error codes diagnosed as P0172 and P291F. Replaced fuel injectors and high pressure pipe under service bulletins 10=8-025, 18-027, and 19-015. This is a common issue that should be addressed through a redesign and recall. Failure of this component could cause the engine to stall unexpectedly, causing a safety issue.

Engine oil level on dipstick way above what it should be and there is a strong gasoline smell in the engine oil. The Honda maintenance minder says 70% engine oil life is left. Also the seat heaters don't seem to work. Based on what I read online this seems to be somehow linked with the engine oil dilution issue

Fuel is penetrating the oil in the engine. Strong gasoline smell is present on the outside of the vehicle after driving it, regardless of distance. Gasoline smell fills cabin while driving vehicle. Problems are occurring regardless of distance driven or terrain. Fuel is diluting the oil in the vehicle in such large amounts that the oil level is beyond the full level on the oil dip-stick. Took vehicle to the dealership, and they informed me that it is a know issue, but that they could not fix it since there is no recall active.

The oil in my engine is being diluted with gasoline. The dipstick never goes below full and the oil is thin and dirty. This is just 1 month after an oil change. Occasionally the gas fumes enter the passenger compartment and make driving the car unpleasant. Honda dealer says there is no problem. This is an ongoing problem. Date below is the last time gas fumes were inside the passenger compartment.
