Here in South Florida we have been getting quite a bit of rain the past couple of months. An occasional drip began about one month ago. It was located on the driver's side between the headliner and the top of the door, near the headliner. Within a couple of weeks, it progressed down the inside of the dashboard and started dripping out the bottom of the dash.
Even though my 2018 CR-V has 34,000 miles, I have had it for 43 months and it is past the manufacturer's warranty. I do have an extended warranty, however this is not considered a "mechanical breakdown". There is a moonroof in this car. This is my second CR-V with no problems in the first one. My local Honda dealer had to "blow out" the drain to clear it. The Service Manager said I should be opening the moonroof at least once a year to clear the rubber track inside of "debris". Neither my driveway nor my work parking lot have trees. Nothing falls in there. I have not even used the moonroof in about two years. I feel this leak should not have happened and I am concerned there may be a defect.
I did have the dealer fix it (clear the drain) and they said there is a guarantee on this for 12 months or 12000 miles. I asked the Honda Service Manager to contact the area/district manager and he would not. I am going to try to do this myself.
I saw a notice on static.nhtsa.gov that Honda is investigating "2018-2019 CR-V Water Leak from Roof Area" however it is only requesting information from certain VIN numbers which begin with 2HG - not mine. This leads me to believe there may be an issue with water leaks in CR-Vs...
