While driving, the Emergency Brake light comes on and a system message that reads "Catastrophic failure. Pull vehicle over when safe" appears on the information display. When this happens, it feels like the Parking Brake is engaged. Pressing the Parking Brake OFF button resolves the problem each time it happens. This has happened multiple times (intermittent failure).

The parking brake could not be released. Driver was stranded and had to get the car towed to the dealer. Cost $ 470 to repair. The vehicle is less than 5 years old - and brake parts should be in drive train warranty - but dealer denied coverage. My car has had problems in the past with electronic components - related to the automatic driver assist system - specifically the sensors. The automatic brake engages when a normal driver wouldn't slam on the brakes.

The contact owns a 2018 Honda CR-V. while driving 15 mph, the brakes failed. When the contact depressed the brake pedal, it would not depress and the entire electrical system went out. The instrument panel gauges lit up and flashed. The vehicle drove through a stop sign and over railroad tracks. The emergency brake did not engage. The contact let the vehicle roll to a stop. The contact turned off and restarted the vehicle several times, but the failure recurred. After three attempts, the contact was able to pull the vehicle to the middle of the road and had it towed to a dealer. Airport Honda (3069 alcoa hwy, alcoa, tn 37701, (865) 970-2300) instructed the contact to have Honda roadside service tow the vehicle to them for diagnostic testing. The contact informed the dealer that she felt unsafe in the vehicle and did not want it back. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 28,000.
