The Collision Mitigation Braking System is malfunctioning when driving over metal plates. It has happened when I get close to drive straight over the metal plate (at probably 20-25 MPH), my car slams onto the brakes and comes to a complete stop. If anybody were behind me, they would rear-end me. This is very dangerous and needs to be corrected to save lives and property.

The CMBS (Collision Mitigation Braking System) activated and suddenly locked up my brakes as I started to accelerate the car on the street after being the first car at a standstill at the metro tracks. Two or three seconds after accelerating, just as I had gotten over two sets of tracks, it happened. The car even jerked when it stopped at the somewhat low speed that I was going. No metro train went by at the time and no safety arm had come down while I was at the standstill at the tracks. No metro train lights ever flashed either. I could have easily been rear-ended by the car behind me because there was a long line of cars waiting along with me. I felt very unsafe driving the car to my next stop as I was in a very high --traffic area. This is why I called the dealer immediately and made an appointment for two days later. I felt even more unsafe driving the car back through the same area. It did not happen again upon my return as I went over the tracks. The problem has not happened again because I now know how to turn off the CMBS system every single time I get into the car. I do not want to chance going even a bit faster or being on the freeway and having the car come to a sudden halt. There would most certainly be grave injuries at freeway speeds on such crowded L.A. freeways. I am so afraid of this happening that I must drive without the CMBS from now on. The dealer said that they did code checks and a DTC ? check. On my Honda service papers, they said that the possible cause could be my dash cam position. They drove my car to test it but nothing happened. In fact, I bought my dash cam for this car specifically and have driven with it in the same general position for 3 years and this never happened before. The dealer found that there were no problems with the car. No police nor insurance were ever involved since I luckily did not cause any accidents. I noticed a BRAKE WARNING on the dashboard AFTER the car had stopped by itself.

The vehicle automatically braked without warning. Simultneously the braking notification warning light came on as the vehicle braked. Feared i would be rear ended. The vehicle has not been inspected. The dealer offered diagnostic services but had no guidance from Honda. I thought this was a one-off until I read other owers of this model had the same experience. Dealer was unaware of on-going problem with model and told me to call Honda. Honda told me to register here.

I have had two instances where the automatic braking engaged when there was no traffic that was near me. The scariest was when I was exiting the highway and my car suddenly stopped on the off-ramp. I could have easily been rear ended as there was no reason to stop the vehicle. Luckily no accident or injury occurred. There has been no attempt to have the issue examined or recreated because it has not been a frequent issue. The brake indicator light had illuminated although there was no traffic and then the car stopped. There was no other indication that this would occur.

The contact owns a 2018 Honda CR-V. The contact stated while driving at 20-25 MPH, the brakes applied inadvertently. The contact stated that the vehicle stopped and the steering wheel locked temporarily. The contact did not recall whether there was a warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who informed the contact that it was a normal activation of the Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS) due to something in the road; however, the contact stated that there was nothing around the vehicle at the time the Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS) being activated. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was taken to a second dealer - Honda Of Princeton (987 US-206, Princeton, NJ 08540) who informed the contact that they could not duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to page 24 of the vehicle manual for information on how to deactivate the Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS) as necessary. The failure mileage was approximately 18150. The first incident happened on 9/24/19. There was a second incident date right around 3/16/20. Again, there was nothing in the road that would account for the braking system to be activated. Consumer reported this to Honda of Princeton took the car in for regular maintenance the following month (May 2020 )-€" they were unable to duplicate the failure.

I was driving and my ABS engaged without any one or anything in front of my vehicle. I was traveling at 40mph, suddenly the "BRAKE" visual illuminated on my dashboard and before I even knew what was happening my vehicle came to a complete stop. Thankful no injuries and no one was behind me. I took it to the dealership for inspection, and they said there was nothing they could do to address the 'fluke' issue and that no errors would be found on a diagnostic scan. There wouldn't be any error codes if the SUV's automatic breaking system engaged, because the car must of 'seen something' that caused it to react this way.

The forward collision sensor basically completely freaked out for no reason at all and when I applied the brakes to try to slow down and get off the road, the anti lock braking system activated and I could not slow the car down. Thankfully I was not near any other cars or obstacles or I would have been involved in an accident. I took the car to the dealer to be checked out and they were not able to replicate the issue. There were no prior warnings or messages before this happened, it was completely random and has happened several times.

Numerous times the automatic braking has applied. Sometimes, only a -€œbrake -€œ indicator light flashing on the dash. Other times hard braking has occurred. This has typically occurred when passing under a bridge, and the shadow of the roadway above has fooled the car into thinking it is an obstruction in the road. It does not have to be an exceptionally sunny day for this to occur. I have taken the car to the dealer on several occasions and complained about this. They claim that it is from an obstruction on the windshield. This is not true. The windshield was exceptionally clean the last time I took it to the dealer, immediately after one of these instances. I am afraid I-€™m going to get rear ended, or provoke someone into a road rage, thinking that I brake checked them.

10 warning messages appear on the dashboard simultaneously. This has happened about 10 times now and has been viewed by an independent repair shop. The failures involve the breaking system, TPMS, power steering, vehicle stability assist, adaptive cruise control, collision mitigation and road departure. All of the 10 failures occurred when the temperature was below 40 degrees. They all were cleared after warming up in my garage overnight. When the warning messages appear, none of the systems are operational causing major safety concerns. I have a log of each occurrence and a video of the dashboard when the vehicle is started with the failures. Also, I am writing to alert you of this because there are many others who have experienced the same problems as I found after doing some on-line research. Please feel free to contact me about any other details.

The contact owns a 2018 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that while driving on a local street at approximately 40 MPH, her vehicle had intermittently slammed on the brakes. The contact stated that the brake light had illuminated for about 3 seconds, and the brakes had released themselves. The contact stated that there was not a crash and no one was hurt because there was no other vehicle behind or in front of her when the failure occurred. The contact stated that she then drove her vehicle to the dealer who performed a terminal reset on her vehicle, and advised her that there was nothing wrong with her vehicle. The contact stated that in the past the brake light would illuminate, however it never caused her vehicle to slam on the brakes. The contact stated that she contacted the manufacturer, and they were not able to assist. The contact stated that upon doing her own research, she found many complaints concerning the same year, make, and model experiencing the same failure as she experienced with her vehicle. The mileage failure was 40,000.

My CRV TOURING 2018 has a little over 23,000 miles. I started the car and all of the safety lights come on as malfunctioning. I could not get the vehicle to back up out of the garage. I never put the brakes on. I finally was able to get it out of the garage and to the dealership. Two of the personnel at the dealership said they had never seen that many lights on the dash come on and some they had never seen. This is the second battery that has been put into the car and the charge was good. The car was looked at for several hours. They did not know what was wrong and reset the system some how and I went home. The paperwork said I told them the car was hard to start which I never said. Three days later upon starting the car all of the same lights and warnings came on. This time I was able to back up with no issues. I went straight to the dealer and asked them to do an ECU check. They said it could be the fuel injectors; however could not guarantee that would solve the problem with all the lights coming on. Had the car all day and came back with about 7 codes. I had to ask what the codes were as they had not been written down on my statement. I wrote them down and looked them up that night. Two of them were under warranty. The mechanic did not know the two codes were under warranty and did not look into it further. I took the car in for the third time and had the codes updated and checked. One was for the injectors which they said failed. The other was a check for spark plugs, etc. to help eliminate the source of problem. Again, they said the problem was the injectors and the cost to repair would be $2,200. I have requested a Good Will Repair which was over three weeks ago. Honda North America said the District Manager would be handling it and then I was told that the District Manager would let the Service Manager at Honda dealership handle it. That person has not returned my calls. I am not driving my car much and really need it badly.
