This car has had sticky steering issues since new, but they were sporadic. The dealer, Sanford Honda, said that they could not do anything about it unless it was actively stick/binding when they were present. They never drove the car to check it out. During the last week the problem became almost constant. It seems that the further you drive or the warmer the outside air temperature the worse it gets. You cannot make fine steering corrections while on a straight road. The steering wheel kind of sticks and then pops loose, creating an oversteer condition. While in a constant turn, such as an exit ramp, the wheel is very jerky.

Took the car to another dealer this morning, Autopark Honda, in Cary, NC. The service tech knew exactly what I was talking about, and what the problem was. A test drive confirmed that the problem was with the steering rake. It looks like Honda issued Service Bulletin 18-103, back in 2018, due to problems with these steering rakes, but claimed it only affected 17 CR-Vs. It now looks like the problem has expanded to include a lot of the cars on the road, and not just the CR-V. The estimate to make the repairs includes $2300 for parts, $1000 labor, and a front wheel alignment for $115, plus sales tax. So well over $3400 to repair something that Honda knew about when the car was brand new, and my local dealer refused to address.
