The vehicle will be running at a certain speed then will just start braking like a car is in front but there isnt. It has done it several times. Sometimes it brakes hard and sometimes not. It is scary and worries you about being rear ended. It will slow you down then take off again.

I HAD 2 INCIDENCES WHERE MY CRV STOPPED SUDDENLY FOR NO APPARENT REASON. BOTH TIMES, I WAS DRIVING IN A RESIDENTIAL AREA, ON ONE-WAY STREETS, WITH A STOP SIGN AT EACH BLOCK. SPEED WAS AbOUT 20 MPH (OR LESS). THERE WAS NO WARNING OF ANY KIND, NO ACCIDENT WAS CAUSED AND I DIDN'T REPORT IT TO THE DEALER (CAR IS LEASED), THINKING EACH WAS JUST A FLUKE. I'M REPORTING IT TO YOU NOW, SINCE I JUST LEARNED THAT THIS HAS OCCURRED WITH OTHER HONDA CRVS AND IS BEING INVESTIGATED. THE RISK OF AN ACCIDENT WOULD HAVE BEEN HIGH IF A CAR WAS FOLLOWING ME CLOSE BEHIND. I DO NOT REALL THE DATES, BUT BOTH OCCURRED WITHIN THE PAST YEAR.

The ABS system suddenly engaged for no reason with the brakes slamming on. The system has also randomly alerted to brake for no reason with nothing but shadows in front of me. I purchased this vehicle because it happened multiple times in the 2018 CRV model I owned and the dealer I bought it from said there was nothing wrong and that it couldn-€™t be turned off. That vehicle stopped in the middle of a road from going 35 and again in the highway while traveling at 60 mph.

Periodically my vehicle will abruptly slow down, propelling myself/passenger forward. I would examine the area and there is nothing moving that should have triggered it. There are no identifying factors involved, (day/night/wet/dry), it may occur at any time. I have mentioned it to the Honda service department at my local dealership. They say it will happen sometimes.

Vehicle on several occasions has applied the brakes at highway speeds for no apparent reason. My safety is at risk because this will causes the vehicle to brake without warning and at high speeds. No vehicles were in front of the car, the road was clear. The vehicle has been taken to two Honda Dealerships for this issue. The warning "BRAKE" warning light flashes in the dashboard when this has happened. This has happened multiple times in 2021 and also in 2022.

On Thursday evening (2/3/22), I had just made a left turn from a complete stop, and was accelerating up to speed. The car had only reached between 30&35 mph when it (the car) came to an abrupt and slamming stop. There were no other vehicles or anything else in front of me that could justify us to stop. The car was not in cruise control - which, when I carried my vehicle in to be checked out, I was asked repeatedly.

Purchased my vehicle November/December of 2019. I have had multiple occasions of my vehicle automatically braking for no reason what-so-ever. I've been in clear path of travel and it just brake. I have reported this to the Honda of Gallatin, TN on multiple occasions. I had to have radar system replaced with in a couple of weeks of owning the vehicle. And had to have some thing else replaced about a month ago because all my brake warning systems came on. On that occasion it didn't cause the brakes to come on but it's an uneasy feeling to drive with brake system warning on everything. The emergency braking has happen multiple times i'll do better in keeping track of those going forward

twice in the past 6 months, driving down our rural road to our neighborhood the car flashed the BRAKE sign on the dash and applied the brakes. After touching the brake pedal the car returned to its normal speed. The road was clear, with no obstructions, no cars in front or cars coming the other direction. A web search brings up other incidents like this and a class action law suit

The other day my car logged 35k miles. About 200 miles later multiple waning lights came up on my instrument panel. Adaptive Cruise Control, Road Departure and Collision Mitigation systems are not working. After looking for help on different forums I found that at around 35K miles this is happening to many people. The "radar" part of the system is most likely the part that needs replacing and just the part is over $400! This safety feature is not only required for modern vehicles, but it is used in vehicle safety ratings and marketing to attract buyers to specific vehicles. This is no small matter in my opinion. What good is a feature that stops working after the warranty runs out.

While driving 55 on a busy highway my car braked on its own. (Like slamming on brakes!!) The brake warning light flashed on the dash. THANK GOD the car behind me was paying attention and swerved into the other lane. Otherwise I would have been rear ended! This is dangerous and unacceptable! This obviously can happen at anytime and could result in an accident with potential injury.

My CR-V without warning will brake suddenly..very dangerous to me and the vehicle behind. Has happened on a straight hwy without traffic, and when I cross a specific rr crossing..I've checked with three dealers and am told nothing can be done with resetting the radar. Only Honda (America) can give the codes? in the meantime its dangerous and is going to get me or someone else killed. I purchased at Honda of boone, (friendship) and have invoice for service on 16 June 2020, mileage 6743, and recently service at crown Honda of greensboro 02/21/202, (mileage1714).service mgr. Said call amerrican Honda, but would not give me address/phone and said I'd have to get codes? from them!

I purchased a Honda CRV from hagerstown Honda on 3/16/2019. I love my CRV. However, I've been having serious problems with my car. The Honda collision mitigation braking system is causing my car to just stop while driving, usually going 70 miles an hour or more, down to zero without warning. The cmbs thinks there is something I'm going to hit, however there are no cars or objects in front of me. This has happened to me about 5 times now. I have had my car back to the dealership to see if hagerstown Honda can fix the problem. I have meet with bob barnes (service manager) and talked several times on the telephone about the issue, the technician (nick shifler) readjusted the radar, and a Honda sensing interview sheet that was sent into Honda usa. It happened again just last week, where I caused a three-car accident on East bound route 66. I was the only one that was injured in the accident as far as I know right now, however the other drivers had significant car damage. This car is not safe. Someone is going to get killed. The va state trooper at the scene of the accident told me not to drive the car because it was unsafe, and I agree. I contacted bob barnes service manager from hagerstown Honda again last week, and he said he can't help me because they couldn't reproduce the problem and to contact Honda usa. My car is unsafe to drive, because you never know when the cmbs system is going to engage, without warning. This has all happened on highway driving.

Three incidents (all random) travelling on two lane highway in Suburban area, the cmbs system automatically stopped the vehicle. There were no other vehicles, animals, other obstructions, or cross intersections around. The weather was a clear, sunny day. The three incidents were during may, June, and July, 2020. (specific dates aren't available). The vehicle was travelling approximately 35 to 40 miles per hour. I took the vehicle to great lakes West Honda - elyria, oh 44035 (from whom the vehicle was purchased). Service manager and technician took the vehicle out for testing. Everything was operating to Honda specifications.

While accelerating through an unobstructed city street intersection from a red light that had just turned green, the vehicle's collision mitigation system -- without warning -- activated and forcefully applied the brakes for no apparent reason. The system brought the vehicle to a complete hard stop in the middle of the intersection and I was nearly rear-ended by the vehicle behind me. There wasn't any vehicle in front of my car and no reason for the system to activate. I could not override the system once it activated. I estimate my vehicle's speed at approximately 15 mph when the system activated. I understand there are reported problems and lawsuits about this issue with Honda's collision mitigation system.

My 2019 Honda CR-V touring model had sudden unintended braking. There were no cars or obstructions around. It was at noon on a sunny day. My dealer said the car was working ok and gave me a page telling me not to use the adaptive cruise control in town. I called Honda Corp and asked for a buy back. This resulted in a test drive and a statement that the car was working as designed and there is nothing else to do. They did tell me that they found a code in the collision mitigation system data record that showed the incident. It showed that on 6/24/2020 the car braked by itself from 42 mph to 11 mph in 3 seconds. I stated that this is not "working as designed." They told me it is working to design and that nothing exists which can be fixed to prevent this problem. They pointed to a page in the manual that said do not use it in town. I told them that the Honda ad calls it a "slow follow" system and the salesmen who sold me the car took a lot ot time to tell me how wonderful this system is in town. He had me demonstrate it in city traffic. Please note I filed a complaint before, but I want to update with the fact that the collision mitigation system had a record of the incident as well as Honda's insistence that the car was working as designed. Also a flat refusal of a buyback.

The automatic brakes have engaged three separate times, all while driving on the highway 60 mph minimum, each time in the right lane. Each time, no cars were present, I didn't veer off the road and there was nothing to trigger the automatic braking system. Honda mechanic told me a bug must have been smashed on the sensor and that caused the braking. I find this hard to believe given this has happened three times in the last six months, including during cold weather.

My family experienced multiple episodes of sudden unintended acceleration with a new car purchased on 01/31/2020. The current mileage of the car in July 2020 is about 3,000. We experienced about 7 episodes in may and June. On one day, this happened 3 times. Most of times this happened when I was slowing down to a stop sign. On one occasion, this happened after I had the car completely stopped at a red light. In all cases I know my foot was on the brake pedal. Our car has weather mats, and it is not interfering with the operation of brake or acceleration pedals. In all these events my wife was in the passenger seat and knew I did not put my foot on the acceleration pedal. We had the same issue with Toyota 2004 sienna and 2011 Camry in the past. This is a well-known issue with modern cars. But no car manufacturer admits that the issue even exists probably because it may require a major design change ' throttle by wire, brake by wire, etc. - to resolve the issue. I believe the cause of this issue is the failure of computer software used to control all components. I believe the car manufacturers should include a safety in the software programming to lock the acceleration when brake is engaged.

When I got in my car at walmart and started the engine all the sudden the brake system warnings come on the dash and also I could night shift the gears. I was not able to move the car at all and had to call a wrecker to come tow the car to the dealer. The dealer told me they had no idea what was wrong for most of the day. They then called me and asked me did I normally hang my handicap placard on the rearview mirror. I said yes that's where we normally hang out and remove it before we drive it every time. They told me that the handicap placard had damaged the cable on the back of the mirror and had caused the brake system to completely fail and that it was not a warranty problem. I had to pay $922 to get the car fixed. The wiring harness in the roof of the car had to be replaced. We were not even aware that cable was behind the mirror. The problem could've happened at any point while I was driving the car and I would have lost all the braking system for the car if it had happened while driving. I believe this is an issue that needs to be taken up with Honda and other car makers and have a recall to fix the problem so the handicap placard will not destroy the cable.
