A crack in the exhaust manifold was reported by the dealership when this car had about 270,000 kms under the hood. Given my previous experience with them, I wasn't convinced and didn't think this was likely to occur; however, the OEM heat shield prevented me from visually inspecting it myself....until now. The car has about 389,000 kms on it.
While working on a separate maintenance item, with time the exhaust manifold heat shield corroded to the point where I would be able to remove it without disconnecting the O2 sensor upstream of the catalytic converter. With a quick look, I found a sizable crack. Looking for ways to repair it, I went online and came across similar stories on Car Complaints - I couldn't believe that this is a repeat problem! Honda, please put out a TSB or recall on these! you are turning off a lot of previously loyal buyers.
I will consider a weld repair or aftermarket manifold...I can't believe the SE/LX models were designed with their catalytic integrated within the exhaust manifold. What a jump in price when it comes to replacing parts.

Just purchased used and after the safety inspection, was told the exhaust manifold was cracked. Offered to resolve the issue by welding the crack which was the most cost-effective solution albeit temporary. It will likely crack again, at which point I may choose to replace it at a cost of roughly $600.

Another exhaust manifold crack... It has been cracked for years ... I simply cant afford to replace it and install it yet.... I've gone through 2 O2 sensors now.

Check engine light came on with Oxygen Sensor problem, after mechanic open the car to replace OS, he found that Exhaust Manifold has 2 inch crack and he said you have to replace it. Honda should do something with their manufacturing defect in Exhaust manifold. No one willing to replace only Exhaust Manifold, everyone wants me to replace whole Catalytic converter assembly with Exhaust Manifold. What a rip off...

The engine light on the car lit up, took the car to the dealer and was told that the problem was a cracked exhaust manifold and defective oxygen sensor. Very expensive repair - $1200. Have serviced the car regularly at the dealership and maintained the car, but dealer said that these problems were due to the age of the car. Have never had these problems with any other car, despite owning them all for well over 10 years. Won't be buying another Honda!

Horrible defect. Can find OE replacements on the internet for not too bad. Dorman is what I used. Friend installed. Total cost was just over $200 instead of 900

Check engine light came on for an emissions code. There's an emissions system leak. Replaced gas cap, didn't help. Mechanic ran smoke through to look for a leak but couldn't find one. May be a valve that needs replaced. Doesn't seem to affect driving noticeably.
