Civic LX 1.6L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 209,000 miles

Car would not run or when it did run ran terrible. Had it towed to dealer. Replaced the CMP Sensor and the ELD Sensor. I replaced many electrical components before this. Made many repairs before this. These newer Hondas are not the fine running machines from the 90s. This will be my last Honda.

Civic EX 1.7L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 145,222 miles

Was driving long distance when this occurred and it coincided with the D light flashing (whole other problem) so I had no idea if the car was going to break down or if continuing on home would cause even more damage. Very stressful. Lost hours of work to deal with when I did make it safely home.

Update from Jun 20, 2014: Turned out the light went on because gas cap blew out and then all the drive lights went out.

Civic LX 1.7L

  • Manual transmission

The check engine light and security light (green key) came on, no tachometer and coolant reading, car won't go over 2500RPM, burning twice the fuel.

Civic EX V-Tech

  • Automatic transmission
  • 47,600 miles

47,600 miles and the engine light comes on. The Honda repair said the emission sensor went out and will cost $225 to repair it will carry a year warranty. This car was bought new in 2002 with only 9 miles on it and I am the only owner. It is now 8 years old with only 47,600 miles on it, I kept loyal to having every single scheduled maintenance preformed as dictated by both the dealer and the manual. I only put Shell unleaded gas in it never ethanol gas and refuse to go to another gas station but Shell for the cleaning agent that is also recommended by the manual. This car has been taken care of as if a human being. I am highly disappointed in Honda's now and worry when the next thing will go out.
