It just had to happen right at dusk. It was parked and someone noticed the taillight brake lights were on for no apparent reason. My friend's brother suggested in might be the brake pedal switch. When my friend went to the parts store to get the switch they told him (correctly) that the boot was probably bad too. This switch was not easy to get to. My friend ( who is over 6') had just about stand on his head in the dark to get under the dash to take stuff apart to get to it. I really would have thought it would have lasted more the 269,000 miles before it wore out or at least give me some sign it was bad.
