Civic LX 1.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 154,000 miles

I recently pulled up Honda transmission problems on line for the 2004 and 2005 Civic and was amazed to hear the same problem over and over with NO RECALL????? What gives Honda?? I bought this vehicle understanding Honda was a bullet proof car that would last at least the 250,000 miles all my other vehicles have. I have a 1990 Ford pickup with 240000 on it going strong..

Civic EX 1.7L V4

  • Automatic transmission
  • 80,000 miles

I had this car for a year and it had 80000 miles on it. It had a blown head gasket which is WAY to early for that to be happening. Now the transmission is slipping and almost not getting to 2nd gear. It has only got 95000 miles on it??????? Too early for it to be doing that. It started at 80000, but could of been earlier than that, because I didn't have the car before I heard Honda 2000 to 2005 had transmission problems. They never recalled it, why?????? This sucks. I spent $2000 already for the blown head gasket and now I have to spend $3000 for the transmission. I bought the car for $5000, I already doubled that!!!??? I want it fixed!!!!!!!!!!!

Civic DX 1.7L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 49,399 miles

When i start my engine and the engine is cold , the car has difficulty going forward like if the engine was choking. and 2 or 3 sec after the power came back. Honda tech and engineer told me that it was the torque converter fail in my tranny.

Civic DX

  • Automatic transmission
  • 40,000 miles

This is my third Honda ive owned since 2000, and i will definately say Honda's quality is going down, this car has been a piece of crap, the drivetrain vibrates, the engine is rough, and this transmission has given me problems, the dealership says its fine when they check it but the transmission seems to take for ever to shift out of gear and when it does i shifts hard this happens after about 15mins of driving. Anyways this is definately going to be my last Honda. The repairs are pricey now and the quality has went down, now i think there mainly selling cars cause of there reputation in the 90's.

Civic VP

  • Automatic transmission
  • 80,000 miles

I had a 2005 Civic VP that I loved. However, I started to notice that when I was braking on a downhill, the car would jerkily downshift. Furthermore, when just driving around our country roads, the car seemed to let the RPMs get pretty high before it shifted up. Also, I noticed that when I was accelerating up a hill, the car kind of got "stuck" in lower gear and the engine was more or less screaming until I tapped the brake, and then it downshifted. Finally, when I was driving a hilly interstate, the transmission seemed to be searching around for the right gear. None of these problems happened when the car was new. They cropped up around 70,000 miles. I put up with it until 80,000 miles, when I finally had a trusted mechanic look at it. He said it sounded like my transmission was slipping. I got rid of the car...I did not want to put a new or rebuilt transmission in an economy car. I was very disappointed in Honda. I bought this car brand new, faithfully serviced it, and this is how it ended.
