Mice are getting into the air circulation system somehow. Checked everywhere without tearing the car apart and could find no way the mice could be getting into the area in front of the cabin air filter. They build a nest on top of the filter so we are getting air that has been filtered through a mouse nest before its filtered through the cabin filter! Yuk! Good thing the cabin filter is there or they would probably build the nest in the ducts somewhere. I've actually set traps inside the car at the laughter of my wife - but she wasn't laughing the next morning when we caught one of the beastereds! Big one too. Did this TWICE. Had a '95 Honda Civic before this model and never had this problem even though the car is parked in the same spots. The air comes into the car from the air grill below the windshield wipers. Inspecting this shows it tight enough to stop a mouse, so the mice must be coming in from somewhere else. Maybe the frame? This is ridiculous! If I take the time to install some wire mesh in front of the air blower intake, I suspect the mice will just build their nest ahead of that area - where the windshield wiper motor and harnesses are. If that happens, I don't know how I will clean it out of there. What a poor design. Any helpful hints on how the mice are getting in there would be appreciated.
