AppleCarPlay wouldn't sync w/ my iPhone 7 on 2 separate occasions over 2 weeks. I did the usual troubleshooting; changed cords, turned off phone, car, still wouldn't pair. Bluetooth worked. Took it to dealer. They performed some of the same troubleshooting. Eventually led them to a "Factory Data Reset" on the touch screen. After completing that, AppleCarPlay then recognized my iPhone; we paired them and uploaded my Contacts and adjusted the clock. Works now. Dealer said if it happens again, may have to replace the entire audio unit (touchscreen and hardware behind it). If you have the same issue, try this solution; it worked for me.
