Civic Hybrid Hybrid 1.3L

I'm on my third set of tires for this car now in 60,000 miles of ownership. The rear tires wear out within 20k miles, on the inside edge of the tire, to the point that the car becomes extremely unsafe to drive. It has cost me $1400 in tires so far, and now my mechanic tells me the only way to correct the problem is to replace Honda's stock parts with adjustable rear upper control arms, which will cost another $600. This is an engineering defect that Honda should fix as a recall, or at least fix when customers complain at the dealership, which I have several times with no response.
