Element EX 2.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 50,000 miles

I purchased my 2008 Honda Element EX with 10500 miles on it, a one owner car and I thought since it was a Honda I would be set for a while. I have 56000 miles on my car now and have had brake issues, replaced front and rear rotors and pads at approx 30000 miles and then at 55000 miles had to have the back rotors, brake pads and calipers replaced. - You think it's a Honda and they would last a little longer.

Before I had the brake work done at 30000 miles my VSA and ABS lights came on and have not gone off since, my brake pedal has been low since day one and I thought it was just the car. I have taken it to the dealer and nothing was mentioned about a recall on the VSA system. Now I have to call Honda to find out if a recall is out there and then have to make another appointment to bring my car in. I was told at the dealer that the lights are on because the ABS modulator is faulty and would cost me $1500.00 + tax - this is crazy.

I have put enough money into brakes and I don't think these parts should go bad at 30000 - 50000 miles. Cars are not cheap and the manufactures should stand behind them a little more. I was told the VSA problem could cause the ABS modulator to go bad and I have no idea, I am not a mechanic. So just going to call Honda to see what is up. Thanks for listening.
