In September 2009 I bought a second hand Honda Fit from the lot, one owner and in excellent condition with 82,000km and some warranty left, (fortunately). Within a month I noticed that I was not getting very good gas mileage, 300km per tank. I took it into the dealers shop and explained that my car should be getting better mileage, I was told to keep record of how much it cost to fill the tank and write down the mileage everytime I filled the tank and bring it back after 4 to 5 times. I did this and took my receipts in and they did an inspection of my car. When the inspection was done I was told there were a couple of codes that were out so they reset them for me. I was told they would have to send the receipts to the manufacturer for them to decide whether or not I was getting the proper mileage for this type of car and for the area I live in and I would get a call when they had an answer. I filled my tank and continued to keep track of the mileage. It takes me about 2 weeks to go through a tank of gas as I don't have far to drive to work and am only a 10 minute drive to town. After I went through the first tank of gas I noticed I was now getting 425km, (much better) and figured one of the codes they reset must have been causing the problem but in case it was a fluke I would wait to call Honda until I was sure. Sure enough the next tank was 425km, it had now been 1 month and I still had not heard from Honda so I waited for 2 more weeks before I called them. I asked what information came back from the manufacturer on the mileage and was told for the make of car and area driving, I was getting the proper mileage. I couldn't believe it, I was being given the brush off. So that is when I told him, "that's funny because after you reset the codes for me I am now getting 125km per tank more," all he could say was "oh"!
