The contact owns a 2019 Honda HR-V. The contact stated that while attempting to park her vehicle, the vehicle lurched forward independently and accelerated into a tree without warning. The air bags did not deploy upon impact; the contact did not sustain any injuries. A police report was not filed; however, the tree was damaged as a result of the crash. The vehicle was towed to a dealer body shop where it remained in their possession. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was filed. The contact was also informed that a diagnostic was performed but no defects were found. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 42,000.

Was stopped at red light. Decided to use brake hold feature and when traffic started to move I tapped the gas pedal to release the hold. The vehicle accelerated at an excessive rate and I ended up in the rear end of the car in front of me. Air bag sensor came loose and wire was dangling after impact and bag sensor didn't upload.
