During the safety inspection the fairfax Honda dealer informed front motor mount cracked and need replacement. Car mileage 85K. A month (2/21/2011) back, I had changed timing belt assembly with the same dealer but they didn't inform about motor mount condition. Yesterday (6/19/2013) the same dealer during the safety inspection service called to inform the van is failing the safety inspection due to rear engine mount crack. Considering the expense and experience about another vehicle diagnosis, I preferred to hold the repair and investigate further. After reading the on-line blogs and cartalk website, it seems the Honda Odyssey vans has this recurring problem with the engine mount failures. I have owned the van since the year 2000 and maintained regularly through the dealer service all my other Honda or Acura vehicles. To my amazement many vehicle owners complained similar recurring problem, so I took some time to report. I strongly favor a recall on this major safety part of the most popular family van. Honda seems to ignore our calls and continue use same suspension component. I am prepared to join the group for a class-action law suite for vehicle repair. Already making decision not to own in future Honda vehicles if nothing is done about it. Thank you for your support on serious safety recall issue current and future owners will experience.

Transmission slams into gear and the D4 flashes and the tcs light and engine light are on constantly- was told we needed a new transmission. Did research on it and called Honda and they said that there are no recalls on this but it had an extended warranty that ended before I purchased it- as I am 2nd owner of vehicle. All other maintenance has been done on time or early I had it a year before the transmission started to do this. The Honda dealer tried to talk me into trading it in for a newer model for less payments than I was making on but I own it out right bought from them! they knew something was wrong with transmission and keep selling them!!!!

I was driving my van. It showed no problems at all but the engine light appeared while driving home Friday evening. I had the shop pick it up and check it out on Monday. They found two codes but no support for the problem in the test drive. Approximately 20 minutes after I left the shop, the first sign appeared with my RPM revving up to 5K before shifting into 2nd gear. I stopped at a stop light briefly. When I started to go forward, the van bumped and hesitated before getting in to gear and being able to accelerate forward. This continued at the next two stop lights back to the shop. Since it is my only vehicle and I am a single mom, he had me keep the van until Monday. The car drove fine home and then would not accelerate above 20 mph on the way home from church. Reading a Honda forum informed me this is not a unique situation.

I purchased our 2001 Odyssey van in November of 2000. I used the van only in the city with low mileage about 83,300 miles. Recently, I had my check engine light go on, and sometimes the tcs light to go on and D4 light flashing. I felt the van was slipping in/out of gear and not under control. I had my local mechanic checked the van and told me that is the problem with the transmissions and probably need a whole new transmission. After researching Honda complaints for 2001 Odyssey there is definitely a design problem with transmissions.

2001 Honda Odyssey. Consumer states problem with transmission the consumer stated according to the Honda owner link website there is an automatic transmission recall for the Odyssey minivans. When the consumer took the vehicle to the dealer and mentioned the recall, they didn't respond. They just diagnosed the problems as a slipping transmission, a new ECU was needed, the front and rear mounts were broken and the right front and left rear struts needed to be replaced. The consumer took the vehicle to an independent shop and they concluded the transmission was indeed failing. The recommendation was replacement or a complete overhaul.

The 2001 Honda Odyssey started having problems of stalling while driving on 01/15/10. When the problem occurred again on 01/20/10, we brought it to a Honda dealer for examination. The dealer had it for nine days until 01/29/10 but was unable to make a diagnosis. On 01/29/10, we took the vehicle back. On 02/03/10 and 02/04/10, the stalling recurred so we brought it back to the same dealer. Now, having been unsuccessful to make a diagnosis, the dealer notified us that they would not make any more attempts to repair the vehicle.

In April 2009, my check engine light(cel) came on while driving and the car stalled when I stopped. It restarted and would repeat this with each stop. I took it to my usual garage (the light went off on the way there!) and they said the only code that come up was P0172 for rich fuel, they put fuel injector cleaner in the gas and it drove fine--which it does with the engine light off. In may, the car 's cel was still sporadically coming on and stalling, and I called the 800# for Honda customer service and spoke with a riano. When I told him of my car's symptoms and asked if there were any known problems going on or recalls about this he said "no", and to just take it to the dealer for a check. As the light was off at that point and what I'd gone through at the other garage I decided to wait until the light was on. On July 20th, I was surfing the internet for solutions to this problem and found the dot site which mentioned the egr valve problem and the extended warranty of 8 yrs and 80,000 miles for replacement by Honda. My mileage had just passed 80,000 that weekend. I called the 800# for Honda and spoke with a brian who stated that my car had been made June 26, 2001 and it was too late for me to be covered under the warranty extension. I took it to bill page Honda in falls church, va, (cel still off at this time), they said it was the egr valve plus a third pressure switch. If I'd been told of the egr problem in may when I asked riano I would have taken the car in then and been well under the time and mileage for the replacement. I feel they owe me the $835.70 for repairs as they "lied by omission". thank you for any help in this matter.

The contact owns a 2001 Honda Odyssey. While driving uphill and stopping the vehicle, the vehicle rolled backwards when the contact released the brake pedal to accelerate. He took the vehicle to the dealer for other services and was informed that his transmission needed to be replaced. The dealer made the replacement for free. When the failure recurred, all of the instrument panel lights illuminated. With less than 19,000 miles on the new transmission, the vehicle was taken back to the dealer and the transmission was replaced again for free. The contact feels that it is only a matter of time before the failure recurs. The failure mileage was 77,234 and current mileage was 98,910. Updated 08/20/08 the consumer has had 3 transmission within six years. The timing belt was replaced and the vehicle was leaking coolant, the dealer replaced the water pump. The check engine light illuminated. The dealer replaced the catalytic converter. Updated 08/21/08.

The vehicle experienced the following: Out of alignment, loud bang/ticking, shaking, engine hesitation, inoperative A/C, a contaminated filter with metal shavings, A/C drain tube was rubbing and draining on the steering rack boot, coolant reservoir was empty and the right front seal on the body was damaged due to it being improperly placed, A/C knob was broken, the A/C airflow automatically changed, when the A/C blower motor speed decreased, various dash lights would dim, the hood latch was defective, static shock problem, there was a coolant smell, due to the reservoir fluid level, the sliding door was inoperative, the transmission was defective, the crankshaft pulley and the steering wheel vibrated, the right door seal had come apart, the splash shield clip was missing, the idle speed fluctuated from 750 to 2000 RPM with the vehicle in park/neutral, and immediately after, the mil light had come on. The repairs are as followed: Wheels aligned, A/C condenser and compressor evaporation dryer, intake manifold, reinstalled rear evaporator/heater unit, installed a drain tube in the retainer bracket, hood latch was replaced, PCM replaced to solve the transmission problem, removed the broken bolt from the block, the crankshaft pulley vibration is still unresolved, and the slash shield clip has been replaced.
