I purchased this van from a dealership. I was told it was in great condition, no problems, no recalls. The transmission completely failed in less than thirty days. I was driving on a highway when transmission failed, I was lucky enough to get pulled off to the side of the road. Honda needs to pay to replace all of these transmissions before someone is seriously injured or worse, killed. I'm now trying to look into different estimates to have the transmission completely rebuilt.

I was on my way to work and came to a complete stop at a red stop light. The light had turned green and I proceeded to go and pushed the gas, the vehicle would not move. I turned the van off and on by the ignition a few times thinking it was something other than a transmission gear issue. I sat there for a few minutes after turning the vehicle off and turned it back on, it caught gear so I proceeded towards work. Luckily I was only a half block from my job. As I was pulling in the transmission had slipped again and I barely coasted into a parking space. I had the van towed to a transmission specialist and they flushed the transmission, reset the system and told me that I was going to need to have it rebuilt. The transmission shop told me that this particular vehicle has these issues and it has been a recurring issue with this make and model.

Driving in I-78 West and speed suddenly decreased while RPM increased. Steered over to shoulder and stopped. Shifted car into park. Then I shifted into drive and van would not move. RPM increased again. Van towed off highway and then eventually home. Transmission shot per mechanic. Transmission previously replaced under warranty at 56,125 miles. Currently at 143,000 miles. Honda will not provide any additional assistance. Totally unhappy with Honda and will not purchase another one.

While driving down a main street at approximately 45 mph, the engine revved up and the car felt like it had stalled, but with the engine running... I was able to continue for a short distance at increasingly slower speeds. Once at the traffic light, I cut the car off and back on, it helped me to move forward up to about 30 mph for about 2 minutes, turned on and off at every chance until I was able to make it back into my neighborhood, than I tried to cut off and see if reverse would work and it did nothing, I cut off one last time and back on and was able to finally pull the car into the driveway.

Transmission blew without warning on remote stretch of Arizona highway where there isn't even cell phone coverage. This is the second transmission this car has had. It is a minivan and does not tow or even have a tow hitch. A transmission should last longer than this, either one of them, and not leave me and my family stranded this way. We do all the regular transmission maintenance. Even Honda admits it's just a problem for this part, but they don't care to do anything about it.

While driving on the belt parkway in brooklyn, New York, suddenly the car started to be less responsive and became very slow. A minute later, I got check engine light on. I got off the nearest exit after being very nervous and scared by the slow speed of the car. I stopped by the nearest service station. I did computer diagnosis and turned to be transmission problem (codes: P0730, P0740). Now my car is at the shop for the second day getting the transmission rebuilt.

Before my transmission overhaul, my Odyssey would slip gears and make a thump sound upon initial acceleration and subsequent increases in speed. The check engine and tcs lights would come on and stay lit. After the overhaul, I found out there were bulletins out on parts that were defective and with replacement transmissions additional cooling and filters had to be replaced, as well as additional changes. A year after the overhaul, started having the same slippage and sounds from the transmission again. This time, while on the highway traveling at 70mph, my back window gets covered up by an oily discolored substance. It was to the point I could not see out the rear window. The smell of burned rubber or tar was coming through the vent and the A/C or heat was not on. My RPM needle started shifting up from 3 to 5 and bouncing back between them, then down to 2 and then finally back to 3....with no change in speed. The check engine light and tcs lights come on and stay lit. My brakes tended to be a little soft then a little hard. Called a mechanic that I knew was available and worked on transmissions and asked him what to do and he said get off the road fast and check your fluid levels. My Odyssey had spit out all the transmission fluid and some oil throughout the engine, underneath and back on the driver's side rear tire area. If it had not been for the fact that I was extremely familiar with my van (single owner) and paid attention to the last problems I had, I might have locked up in the middle of a busy highway with my children in the car and may not have lived to see another day.

The car started slipping between 1st and 2nd, 2nd and 3rd gear and later the check engine light and tcs light came on and D4 was flashing. The was turned off and restarted minutes later. Tcs light was off and D4 stopped flashing, but, the check engine light was still on. I went to a dealer and was told that the transmission was bad.

Faulty gas pedal that fails to work especially when the car has not been in use for more than five hours. When you step on the gas pedal the car will not move. This has on many occasions led to near accidents. This happens mostly when I am at a stop sign or a traffic light or at yielding. This problem occurs very often, or about four times a day. It seems to be getting worse on a daily basis.

Odyssey surges at speeds of 40-45 mph. During this time the RPM surges to 4000 and then back down to 1.5-2000. Dealer had attempted to fix problem 5 times, however the problem is so intermittent that they have never seen or duplicated the issue. They even kept the van for a full week and drove it. America Honda customer service is very unresponsive as I have filed issue with them as well. They just seem that they would rather hide the problem than resolve the issue and hope that the issue becomes large after the warranty has expired. I am very disappointed in the quality of this Honda product.

The vehicle experienced the following: Out of alignment, loud bang/ticking, shaking, engine hesitation, inoperative A/C, a contaminated filter with metal shavings, A/C drain tube was rubbing and draining on the steering rack boot, coolant reservoir was empty and the right front seal on the body was damaged due to it being improperly placed, A/C knob was broken, the A/C airflow automatically changed, when the A/C blower motor speed decreased, various dash lights would dim, the hood latch was defective, static shock problem, there was a coolant smell, due to the reservoir fluid level, the sliding door was inoperative, the transmission was defective, the crankshaft pulley and the steering wheel vibrated, the right door seal had come apart, the splash shield clip was missing, the idle speed fluctuated from 750 to 2000 RPM with the vehicle in park/neutral, and immediately after, the mil light had come on. The repairs are as followed: Wheels aligned, A/C condenser and compressor evaporation dryer, intake manifold, reinstalled rear evaporator/heater unit, installed a drain tube in the retainer bracket, hood latch was replaced, PCM replaced to solve the transmission problem, removed the broken bolt from the block, the crankshaft pulley vibration is still unresolved, and the slash shield clip has been replaced. Pulling into parking space with transmission in drive and foot lightly on brake pedal, easing up to curb at a "slow walk" speed, throttle went fully open, car lurched over curb throwing driver back into seat. Before driver could respond by braking, the car traveled aprox. 20 feet up an embankment and hit a water pipe riser coming to a stop. Driver put transmission into park and engine immediately stopped reving and tires stopped spinning.
