Both power sliding doors will not operate (close) without manual assistance. Problem started about 1 year ago with one door and has gotten worse over time. Recently the door scraped down the entire side of the van while attempting to close causing damage to the exterior of the van.

When parking on a slight incline with the front doors wide open they close without notice. I almost had a crushed hand from unexpected failure of the detent to hold the door open. The local service department said it was caused by heavier doors due to side impact reinforcement. Can't the detent spring load be increased to correct this problem?

: the contact stated the sliding doors failed to open or close and the doors opened on their own, intermittently. The dealership reset the code for the doors more than five times. The problem returned and the dealership replaced the motor, but the problem persisted. This failure occurred more in cold weather.

I own a 2004 Honda odessey. I was outside the vehicle and opening the passenger door, which is automatic. My 2 year-old leaned against the outside of the van against the rear panel at the same time that the automatic rear door was opening. She became lodged between the door and the van. The reverse mechanism on the door did not operate (or doesn't exist) and I had to manually pull the door off her and dislodge her from between the door and van. I reported the incident to Honda and they indicated that they have had 10 other reports thus far. My daughter did not suffer a serious injury. However, I feel the potential exists for serious injury to a child in this manner.
