My 2004 Honda Odyssey automatic power sliding door opened while driving onthe highway going 55 mph. It also opened while driving 35 mph. It opens on its own whenever it wants and will not close or lock completely. I have contacted Honda Corp and they state that I have to pay the $100's or more to get diagnosed. I feel it is a safety issue!! and should be fixed for free. An automatic door that opens on its own is a safety issue. I have contacted the dealership I bought it from and they state I should pay for it as well. I am not the only owner with the same issue. A kid could fall out when the door opens or if I get in an accident and that door opens the person sitting there would be dead!!! I have video taped it opening while driving!

Both of my power sliding passenger doors on my 2004 Honda Odyssey are broken. There is a button to shut it off and manually use the doors but it does not work. The doors open on their own and never close properly. The spring broke off of one of the doors and scratched that side of my van. There are many complaints about this but Honda will not cover it!

The door was properly closed and and locked. The slider failed to close after that. Put the vehicle in for replacement of latch.

My daughter and I both opened her door at the same time (she with the handle and I with the button on the key). The door opened just a little and then stopped. I asked her to open the door and she said, "no, you open it." She began to get in the car (through the small opening in the door) and I pressed the button. The door closed on her - it did not stop. It pushed hard enough against her to cause a huge mark on her arm. It is completely black and blue and she screamed out and cried loudly from the pain. The door after closing on her reopened. It should have never closed on her. The sensor should have caught it. - we took pictures of her arm if you need them. I have also been caught in the door a couple times (twice) when I was buckling my kids in and accidentally pressed the button. The door didn't stop even though I was in the doorway. I looked online to submit a complaint to Honda, but they don't have a way to do it online. I have not yet complained directly to them. Let me know if I should.

The two front doors to not have enough tension when opened and the doors swing shut (even on a level surface) and have closed on my leg and my 3 year olds leg. The dealer says that my van is set to the standards and I think the standards need to be changed!

A 20 month old toddler got her fingers stuck in sliding door of a 2004 Honda Odyssey. The door usually does not close if something is in the way, but did not stop for the tiny fingers. What was even more of a concern is that the doors could not be opened for about 3 minutes. No control button worked and the door could not be opened manually from the outside. After 3 minutes the door opened, but I have no idea why the button worked. We did not follow up with the physician yet, but it seems that she is ok beside some bruising on her fingers but this should be checked out.

Consumer complained about two problems. The first problem involved the sliding door located on the right side which did not close when it was opened. Took vehicle to dealership six times. However, problem recurred on July 19, 2005, and the dealership told him to bring the vehicle back. Consumer has repeatedly been told by the dealership that there was no problem. Dealership replaced some parts, but consumer saw no improvement. He was concerned about the door malfunctioning when opened. What if it would malfunction when it was closed and it opened while driving. The second problem involved transmission. He received a recall notice that was dated spring/summer 2004. He took the vehicle for service and they said there was no problem. Transmission hesitated while driving.

Contact states vehicle is equipped with a safety device in the door to keep it from closing to stop injury, but nothing was designed for it when it is opening to stop from causing injury. Son was getting out of van and his foot got stuck at the bottom of door. The door had to cycle before consumer could reopen it and try to get his foot out. There was not a way to stop the door to prevent his foot from getting smashed. The son's toes were only smashed in the incident but it could have smashed or even broken his foot or leg.

Multiple failures. Brakes problem, transmission, rough idle & engine surging, steering column controls and others. The automatic door would not open or close, the transmission did not shift properly and the dealer was unable to duplicate the problem. The brake pedal shuttered, the brakes would catch without being applied. The consumer was told the steering column control switch had a short, however the next day the horn honked and there was an odd noise in the steering column and the interior lights flashed multiple times.
