Have a 2006 Honda Odyssey. The third row seat on the right side will not latch reliably to the floor. Sitting on the seat and/or accelerating causes the seat and passenger to flip backwards. The seat latch is on a swinging panel and is too far forward to meet the floor mounted hoop. There doesn't appear to be any way to adjust the latch position.

Honda Odyssey 2006 heated seat problem. Heated seat over heated causing no injury but burned leather seat and smoldered while vehicle was sitting in garage. Our concern is that if this was not immediately noticed the seat could have continued to smolder, burn and eventually cause the vehicle to start on fire while parked in the attached garage of our home. I am quite surprised that there is not some sort of safety built into the seat heater that would blow a fuse and cease the flow of electricity. If there is something like this in place it has failed. When we brought the vehicle to wilde Honda in waukesha Wisconsin the dealer wanted to charge us to determine the cause of the problem. I did not let them investigate because I felt that they should be concerned at the fact that the vehicle may cause additional problems with burning/fire. We have not used the seat heater since this incident.

For 2006 Honda Odyssey with 60K miles, 3rd row seat latch does not engage allowing seat to move freely when in the 'unstored or normal position.. potential major safety hazard in the event of accident or rapid stop. Honda dealer said that no extended warranty applied although I expect that the latch has been engaged no more than 100 times during life of vehicle. Currently 3rd seat unusable and must be stowed for safe operation. High consumer cost for replacement seat or 'rebuild'. currently if I grab the seat and torque slightly I can get the latch to engage, but this is not an automatic process - the seat was designed to engage automatically when converting from stored to upright, but will not work automatically. There was not yet an 'incident' as a result of this defect - only the potential for serious injury in the event of a crash with an unlateched seat. Cost to replace seat mechanism quoted by Honda dealer was $650 - prohibitive cost for us right now.

The van was struck in the back by a large (semi) truck. The van rebounded forward from being hit by the truck. At this time the front seats in the van collapsed to the full back position 180 degrees. This had us lying flat, below the level of the windows. As the van came to a stop the truck came up along side the van and stopped with the front right wheel being lodged in the sliding door on the left side of the van. The van was half way in the third lane of traffic and half way on the shoulder. The truck was tight against the center concrete median on the shoulder and tight into the side of the van. The flattening out of the front seats prevented us from controlling the direction of the van and would have been a living hell for anybody sitting in the back seats. This could have made this a much worse accident. Is this an expected result when an Odyssey is hit from behind?
