Change AC compressor in 2012, totally change a new a/c system in 2013 at Russell & Smith Honda. After two years, find a/c works only when car is running. Today, no a/c.

Is it Honda or Honda dealer service quality?

The a/c is working it's driver's vents that hot air is blowing out of. This a significant problem since I live in Texas.

Odyssey EX-L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 97,369 miles

The clutch and coil were bad on my AC compressor. The air conditioner progressively got worse from 2012 until it produced no cold air in 2014 at the time of repair. The cost to replace an entire compressor vs. just the clutch and coil assembly was only a couple hundred dollars, so I decided to replace the entire compressor.

Odyssey EXL V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 60,000 miles

Switched on AC on warm day on the east coast and it will not blow cold air. Surprised as haven't used AC in nearly 7 months. Car is lightly used and given that we hardly used for 3-4 months a year having a compressor going bad on its own is terrible. This is not the first part on odyssey to go out. Since I bought we have had regular problems with power steering pump ( recall exist), battery replacement and going bad within a year ( Honda battery ), brake pad issues to name a few. I am surprised how Honda got a quality name in the first place. I have called Honda corporate and complained about the experience. Doubt if they will help, awaiting their response.

Since we bought that Honda at CAR-MAX we had problems with the AC so they send it to be fixed, so all of a sudden it happened again, so I go and look at my receipt and it says that relays were changed so I go to Honda and buy the relays and changed them. After a while it quits working again, so I bought extra relays so I change them, but this time does not work. So I take it to Honda and pay the fee $50.00 for them to tell me the problem and they say its going to cost me around $650.00 to put a new AC condenser because is not good... I bought it for being dependable but I'm finding that they are a piece of junk... Honda needs to make better vehicles because by their own admission is a relay problem with their vehicles....
