The passenger side power sliding rear door began intermittently having issues closing-it would close about 75% of the way, then beep as it does if there is an object blocking it's path, then open back up. I would have to pull the door to help guide it closed. Before I could get it to the Honda dealer, the driver side power sliding rear door began doing something similar. It would close only about 90%, but I was unable to pull it fully closed. I flipped the switch to turn the doors from power operation to manual operation, thinking everything would be ok. I was able to get the driver side sliding door closed manually. However, when we arrived at our destination, I tried to open the passenger side sliding door (switch was still in the manual position), and was only able to open it about 8-10 inches. I could not get my 2 yr old daughter out of her car seat. I pushed with all of my strength, and it would not budge. I ran back around, flipped the switch back to auto, and was able to get the door open that way. However, this ordeal has shown me a severe safety flaw with the power sliding doors on the 2007 Odyssey. If we had been in a situation where the vehicle was on fire--possibly from the now recalled fuel mechanism that can catch fire--I would not have been able to get them out. In an emergency, when every second counts, the door issue could literally have made the difference between life and death. My husband looked at the door that evening, and he, too, was unable to get the passenger side door to budge when set to manual operation. He had to lift the back of it and pull it open. Also, he looked at the drivers side sliding door and noticed metal shavings on the door where metal had literally been grinding on metal. The roller mechanism is no longer working. I am taking it in to my local Honda dealer.

Yesterday my three year old had 3 of his teeth nearly ripped out of his head by an integrated sunshade in the sliding door of my 2007 Honda Odyssey. By nearly ripped out I mean they got caught in the thing when the door was opening...the door didn't stop opening and it caused his teeth to stick straight out of his mouth (moved almost 90 degrees upward). The window was completely up and the windows are tinted in the rear of the Odyssey's so I couldn't see him holding (and apparently biting) the sunshade while approaching the rear passenger sliding door. I would not have opened the door knowing it was in his mouth. I applied pressure and got his teeth to go back in place and took him to the dentist. We are on a wait-and-see scenario with whether or not my child will lose his teeth. I inquired, with Honda vehicles, if there was any sort of lock for this sunshade and why there isn't a sensor to indicate something is tugging on the doors. He told me there is no product that can lock the sunshade in the retracted position to prevent injuries, didn't comment on the sensors, and told me to move my child to the back seat of the van.

I cut and pasted part of another complaint as this complaint perfectly explains my complaint. "the right rear passenger intermittently fails to open or close. This occurs when using the remote, driver buttons, or the door handles (interior & exterior). It appears to jump off the track. We have had it looked at by a Honda" 5 times. I bought it used from the dealership and it was a certified, pre owned Honda. The 4th time I took it in they replaced the replaced the harness and pinch center in May 8, 2012. They said the middle roller was broken as well and that was replaced in February 2012. But I am still having trouble. This morning when I brought it in to look at it, the door made the loud popping sound it sometimes makes after I have tried to open it for a long time without success. The technician saw it but like all of them, he just looked dumbfounded and did not appear to know what to do. I mentioned others have complained about the doors on this site and they did not seem to care. The most aggravating thing is that when I bring it in to the shop to be seen, the door always works for the Honda guys so it looks like I am crazy.

The right rear passenger intermittenly fails to open or close. This occurs when using the remote, driver buttons, or the door handles (interior & exterior). It appears to jump off the track. We have had it looked at by a Honda dealer no less than 3 times. I know of two other people who have the same problem with their 2007 Odyssey.

I have a 2007 Honda Odyssey and the sliding doors do not latch properly, which could open while driving with my children sitting in the car. I get an audible chime telling me "a" door is ajar, but no warning light on the dash. When I come to a stop by hitting the breaks I hear the door finally close. This is a very scary knowing that I could be driving down the interstate and my doors could slide open at anytime. I have taken my car to the dealership numerous times in which they have replaced a failed door latch and tightened the chain and the problem still has not been corrected. I have seen many issues with this in other forums and I wonder what it is going to take for a recall to be issued.

The automatic sliding doors of the 2007 Honda Odyssey ex-L entrapped my 5 year olds left hand at the back of the door. He has swelling, bruising, and abrasions. It does not appear that there is permanent damage. However, the proximity of the seat and seat belt to the rear door jam is conducive for this type of injury. The door should immediately reverse if it encounters any resistance to closing at any part of the door. It currently only stops it's motion if the front part of the door encounters significant force.

My 3 year old son's arm and hand became trapped in the left rear automatic electronic sliding door. There is a safety to prevent accidental closure, however there are no safeties in place on the inside of the vehicle to prevent a child's arm and/or hand/fingers from being crushed or trapped. This is a very serious problem!

My daughter who is 5 got her hand caught in the sliding door of our 2007 Honda Odyssey. She got it caught in the rear end of the door and the door did not reopen. She screamed and I ran to that side of the car and opened the door to release her hand from the door. She was in a lot of pain and had visible marks across her hand.
