The oil pump is leaking oil so much that one needs to check the oil level between oil changes. If waiting until the oil change light illuminates, the oil level will be at the bottom of the dip stick.

Odyssey EX

For about the last 9 months, I have been having to add about 2-3 quarts of oil between oil changes. No drips or leaks anywhere to speak of. Where is the oil going? Very disappointing experience with this being my 1st and maybe only Honda Odyssey. We have a Toyota Sienna, about 1/2 the miles, but seems to be a much higher quality vehicle.

I had a Honda Civic prior to the Odyssey that was a fantastic vehicle, but Honda seems to have botched the manufacturing of the Odyssey. Not impressed at all. I bought it when it was 7 yrs old and had 78,000 miles. In 3 years of ownership, I have replaced a failed power steering pump, failed sliding door rollers, failed idler pulley, the paint has excessively peeled off the hood, the back lift gate creeks like crazy, and now its burning a 1 quart of oil a month. Go with Toyota or save a few $$ and buy something from Detroit.

Odyssey

I notice in late summer that my vehicle seem to be struggling. So I will make sure I continue going to the dealership. No problem was found. In September 25, 2016 I got an oil change a few days-week later I realize my vehicle was driving terrible struggling to go. Whitish/blue smoke came out from the muffler. I called the service representative and he said, "change in whether." Change in weather we live in Florida and the weather only began cooling in November. I told the representative I lived in Long Island, NY for over 20yrs and not one of my vehicles had this problem. I returned 2xs they said, that the power steering fluid was empty. Every thing was fine. I was there on Nov 11 and today I found the vehicle struggling. When I opened the hood and someone checked the oil they said, ".... look it is bone dry no oil." I called the dealership of course Honda and they plan to test for engine oil consumption. I am so mad. No leak in my garage. No engine light came on. Several other issues coming up with the vehicle.

I am upset that the 2007 Odyssey, was not included in the lawsuit for repairs. Honda agreed to repair 2008 through 2013, only. Why would the 2007 be excluded, although it is suffering the same problem of excessive oil consumption?

After getting a fresh oil change, two weeks later I hear my engine running rough as if it was low on oil, there was no low oil warning light signal on so I opened the hood, checked the oil level and discovered the oil was at least a quart low. Since I was packed and ready to leave for a 400 mile trip I bought and added a quart of oil. Since I never had oil leaks in my driveway I wondered if Goodyear added enough oil during the oil change but after three weeks and only about 800 miles driven I have to add another quart of oil in which the only warning sign is if you just happen to slightly hear the engine sounding differently.

I had a mechanic to check it out and he said Honda is aware of the problem but will not fix it. Honda denies the Odyssey has a problem and insist the problem is a result of the customer driving habits which is obviously untrue because I am the only owner of the vehicle and my driving habits hasn't change the past 30 years. Honda should acknowledge this problem, stand behind their product, and issue a recall to fix it. This is the third Honda Odyssey I purchased new since 1999 and it will probably be the last of my relationship with Honda family or cars.
