Odyssey XL V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 2,000 miles

Since the day we bought this van, our street mpg has been between 11-13 mpg. My husband still checks it every time we get gas, like it’s going to get better after 13 years! We already had a Dodge Caravan and I thought this Honda was going to save us SO much money on gas. Not so. The Dodge outperformed it hands down. We have about 160,000 miles on it now and I get sick thinking about how much money we have spent on gas during that time. Every time I took it to the dealership for its regular service I complained about it. They tested it, and said it was fine. Another time I was told that the mpg claims on the sticker on the car when I purchased it was just a “suggestion”. The promise of great gas mileage was really the main reason I bought this car. I’m so disappointed that I won’t be buying another Honda again. False advertising and failure to take my complaints seriously. I’m sure I’m not the only one. If there’s a class action suit, I would love to be a part of it.

Odyssey EX V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 1,200 miles

I bought the car on October of 2007, brand new. After driving it for a few months, I noticed that on a full tank, I can never get pass 250 miles... every time I fill up, it goes to 17 gallons, I know that odyssey tank has a 20 gallon capacity, but I never wait for it be totally empty... long story short, currently, I average about 10 to 11.5 miles per gallon.. I called Honda (the company) and they told me to go back to my dealership to have a fuel consumption test.. I did and the report came back... no problem, no leaks, no anything... I called back Honda and they said that if the dealership said that there was no problem, then they can't do anything... but there is a problem... now, I'm lucky if I reach 200 miles on a full tank... I need help... the car is just a year old and I don't want to go through this and just eat it up... how am I protected for problems like this? the dealership and Honda itself is making a ping pong ball out of me, back and forth... to be honest... when I read blogs of Odyssey owners bragging about how they average 23 miles per gallon... a shed of tear just rolls down my cheek... Help!!
