We own a 2009 Honda Odyssey that recently experienced failed gas struts in the hatch. As a result, my wife was struck in the head injuring her. Honda agreed to repair even though it is out of the 36K miles warranty. There is a recall for the 2009 Odyssey for the exact same failure mode, but only for the motorized hatch. (ours is not motorized). I would like you to look into the possibility of having Honda increase the scope of the recall to include non-motorized hatches. The dealer took possession of the gas struts from the hatch as they indicated Honda of America demanded the parts for their own research. I was not able to hold onto them. Besides the obvious injury my wife incurred, my young toddler twins were also at risk if they happened to be near the hatch and it collapsed.
