Odyssey 6-cyl

  • 93,000 miles
Today Jan 2nd 2015 around 6:40am cst, my van engine suddenly made a loud noise with high acceleration. I was driving at the speed of 40 mile/hour where suddenly with acceleration it started increasing it speed from 40M/H to 45M/H, 50 M/H and that moment I was scared and afraid and wasn't sure what was going on as I was not driving my van in cruise control. It was very hard to break and I have to use my both the feet to break my van to bring to the complete stop. After stopping and putting my van in park, I turn off the engine wait for a minute and start the engine. Van started but as it was parked and it started accelerating and I was not able to put in drive gear. Transmission was completely lock. I called my insurance all state to arrange roadside assistance to tow my van to nearest Honda dealer. Currently it my van is at frank kent Honda dealer (34000 West loop 820 South, fort worth, tx 76116). This is very scary experience and I was driving alone at that time. I have family with 2 kids 9 & 6 year old and I am worried what might have happened if I was driving with my kids in freeway at the speed limit or in the busy street with heavy or freezing icy road. Anything might have happened and that makes me think that what NHTSA does to protect consumer, a family, a driver safety like me to protect and safeguard there life with not having proper safety standards in place to avoid this computer malfunction problem which I believe in my case. I don't want that NHTSA have to wait when many more incidence happens like this before taking any action. I want that NHTSA should take action right to work proactively to prevent this kind of incidence. I want to hear concrete answer and action taken against my complaint launch for both NHTSA and Honda.
