I was nervous when buying my 1996 Honda passport, but i did. I bought it because the dealership promised to fix anything that went wrong with it as long as I was paying on it. About two months after I got it I noticed that the engine was ticking and it needed oil put in it twice a week. I went back to the dealership and told them the problem... they said the ticking is totally normal on high mileage Hondas. so i continued to drive it adding oil frequently along with regular oil changes. Just last week It started smelling really bad and losing power from the engine. I took it to a shop to get an estimate so I could take it to the dealer with the exact problem. They said that you need a new engine!! 4,500$ to replace! At the shop they told me that if I would have had it looked at when the ticking started (which I did they just told me it was normal)it would have cost a lot less to fix. When I took the estimate back to the dealer they about sh*t their pants! My passport has been at the dealership for about a week now... Im still waiting on results back
