Ridgeline RTL 3.5L Ltr V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 106,000 miles

Have a Honda Ridgeline, 06 model, 106K miles

We have been having trouble for about a year: we get a check engine light, and the engine is rough. The code says #5 cylinder misfiring. When problem first appeared we went to a local mechanic, He changed the spark plugs, $152.00, problem returned next day. Took it to honda. 60 miles each way. They read code, misfire #5 cylinder, they insisted we had bad plugs. We told them they had just been replace. They said they were not Honda plugs, we showed them (Honda) on the plugs, They said the were Knock-Offs, BS $300.00 for Honda plugs. Problem returned the next day. I doubt these guys could pour Pee out of a boot if the directions were written on the heal

I suspect its a bad computer, or a bad ground. any help would sure be appreciated

Ridgeline RTL 3.6L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 140,000 miles

When I was getting off the highway, my check engine light and VTM-4 lights came on simultaneously and I lost power. I had the gas pedal to the floor and had no acceleration. I stopped and restarted twice, then put it in 1st gear and it began to pick up speed. I proceeded to 2nd, then Drive. I drove to the dealer immediately. The dealership said that the sensor that is associated with the accelerator malfunctioned. It has a kill switch or some safety feature that disables the accelerator. (Not sure how safe I felt when I was in the middle of the intersection and was unable to move).
