Accent GS 1.6L I4

  • Manual transmission
  • 36,661 miles

When I apply the brake at low speed, the rear right brake makes a grinding noise. Both drum and shoe was already changed 3 months ago. So my mechanic changes the "almost new" brake shoe to a premium quality and he adjusts the shoes correctly but the problem returns few days ago. So my mechanic filed the extremity of the brake shoe along with the shoe itself with a file and the problem disappears. He says that the shoe made friction with the drum.

Accent GT V4

  • Manual transmission
  • 78,000 miles

I need help assessing what this might be without going to a mechanic who will rip me off.

the noise comes as a ticking sound / creaking sound...feels like it is connected to the brakes...it happens when i brake to a stop.
