Accent GL 1.6L

  • Manual transmission
  • 32,000 miles

Wife, 64, was driving our one-owner 2004 Hyundai Accent GL (about 32,000 miles on it) on private road about 15 MPH when the airbags suddenly deployed, causing severe bruising on her arms and face and shattering the windshield (when the airbag cover on the passenger side blew open). There was NO impact to the car at all that would have caused airbag deployment. Hyundai local dealership and HQ were both contacted. Local dealership refused to do anything at all.....HQ said they would "send us a bundle of paperwork and get back to us within 6 to 8 weeks once they receive it back". Car is obviously undriveable and we are left to navigate through Dr appointments, etc without it. Has been the worst customer service experience of my life and don't know what to do. My wife says she will never drive the car again, even if it is fixed, after the horror of the experience she had together with the fact that, had she been on a busy street or interstate, their would have been major injuries or possibly deaths involved. We are the victims of a defective car who got lucky but are being treated like culprits by Hyundai. Anyone have any suggestions on how to get their attention?? Right now they don't seem to care in the slightest about "our" problem!!!
