Accent SE 1.6L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 95,658 miles

There was a knock that started, and I noticed that when I changed the oil it would stop - only to restart as I lost oil. I just thought it was because I needed oil. Now I know that there were multiple other people with same issues leading up to more serious problems. Like catalytic converter failure due to consumption of oil, and fuel in my oil, needing a piston replaced or the piston rings replaced.

I'm beyond angry with Hyundai. No help at all when other models with the same engine were recalled for safety. Fuel in oil is a safety issue.

Accent

  • Automatic transmission
  • 131,737 miles

2016 Hyundai accent only has 131,737 miles on it. Car had regular maintaince and oil changes. Service engine light would come on intermittently while driving but then go off so not really enough to get codes. Wife started to hear a bad knocking noise and now codes are saying P0420, P0011, P0014. Which is bank one, bank two and possible exhaust leak codes. Changed VVT or oil control value and silver (probably aluminum) shavings was on the valve filter. Took it to three mechanics (one was a Hyundai dealership) and all three said the car needs a new engine even though the car is not that old and does not have that many miles on it. I will but some marvel oil additive in it and see how long it lasts or until there is a recall or something.
