Azera 3.8L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 26,694 miles

I find in very hard to believe that Hyundai could produce an engine that has a noise like this. I also had a 2008 that had the exact same problem and they could not fix it. In my opinion this noise is being caused by either a piston wrist pin or a timing chain tensioner. Lets see if anyone from Hyundai can come up with a solution!

Azera Limited 3.2L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 56,000 miles

The clicking noise started showing up in the winter months so, I just thought it was due to the cold. When I took it in to the dealer I was told that it was not a real problem. That it was the cold weather. Well now it is loud and of course out of warranty and they will not fix the issue unless I pay for the work. What the work is I have no idea they would not go into any details. Only that they could not give me a price on repairs until they got into the engine and diagnosed the issue. Well that is not going to happen, I am done with this dealer and Hyundai.

Azera LX 3.2L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 22,000 miles

The Azara only has 22000 miles and the engine noise, which sounds like a lifter clicking, is getting worse and worse over time. Originally I heard the noise in 2010 and reported the problem to the dealer who later told me they could not duplicate the noise. Again in 2011, I complained that the noise was getting louder and again the mechanic could not find anything. So this year 2/6/13, I had the dealer keep the car over night and had the mechanic ride with me in the morning while the engine was cold. He confirmed the engine was making a clicking noise. The mechanic told me that the noise was normal for this engine. I told him that his statement was dumb. No one in their right mind would drive a car making that much engine noise (lifter clicking). I have requested the dealer arrange for an independent analysis to confirm that the clicking noise is normal. I do not expect a resolution from the dealer and will file a complaint with Hyundai.

I would like to know if any other Azara owners (or for that matter any Hyundai owners) are experiencing a similar problem with their engine.
