problem #1

Elantra GLS 2.0L I4

  • Automatic transmission
  • 185,000 miles

While waiting at an intersection, in drive, car shot to 3500 rpm and shot into traffic, nearly killing me. The car continued to rev high and drive uncontrollably, and brakes stopped working. had to shut off engine, and restart, but car kept revving uncontrollably, and would stall at a stop. Is being fixed with mechanic, seems it could have been an idle control valve, or a leaking gasket. Am scared to drive car now!
