problem #2

Dec 242018

Elantra 4

  • Automatic transmission
  • 60,000 miles

I was driving on the highway with the cruise control set at 70 MPH. The roads were dry; no weather problems. Suddenly the ESC light starts flashing and the cruise control clicked off while the car slowed down. I re-set the cruise control, which operated for a few more minutes, but than it clicked off again and the car again de-accelerated while I was passing a slow moving vehicle. When trying to re-set it, the cruise control would NOT re-set. The ESC light continued to flicker on and then off and the car continued to de-accelerate. I finally turned OFF the ESC control, which then allowed the car to accelerate and the cruise control could then be re-set and operate properly.

I took the car in for the dealer to check this out. They said nothing about this situation because the problems are NOT registering in the car's computer system, providing them with an error code. They said they couldn't fix it because they didn't know what to fix. DEALER CONTINUES TO REFUSE TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEM.

Elantra GT GLS 2.2L

  • Manual transmission
  • 621 miles

When using Cruise Control and then need to disengage arises (traffic, change in speed limit, change in conditions, etc), sometimes I cannot re-engage the Cruise Control once the situation warrants.

In order to re-engage the Cruise Control, I need to pull off the road and turn off the key, in order to re-set whatever software glitch has happened, then get back on the road . . .back up to speed . . .and engage the system (pretty fricken' annoying). This does not happen on a regular basis, and of course cannot be duplicated at the dealership. It has happened about 8 or 10 times since I purchased the car.

Just as a note . . .usually I disengage the Cruise Control by applying the clutch.
