problem #3

Elantra 1.8L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 40,000 miles

The steering sticks when driving in a straight line (most noticeable on the interstate) and needing to make small corrections. Too much effort is required to move the steering wheel and when it does move you end up jerking the wheel and swerving on the road. This is dangerous.

When driving at highway speeds it feels like the steering sticks at center, then when it takes a little bit extra to get past the sticking it gets really easy to turn and I overcorrect and then I wander all over the road! Super annoying!!

I'VE TAKEN THIS CAR TO THE DEALER MANY TIMES. USUALLY IT HAPPENS WHEN THE CAR IS DRIVEN OVER 15 MILES AND IS WARM. THEY HAVE DRIVEN WITH ME IN THE CAR AND THEY SAYS IT'S OK. I KNOW I'M NOT TRIPPING BECAUSE I DRIVE IT AND IT HAPPENS. THE STEERING WHEEL STICKS AND MY PASSENGERS HEADS ARE SWAYING BACK AND FORTH WHEN I TRY TO KEEP THE CAR IN THE LANE ON THE HIGHWAY.
