Elantra Limited 1.8L Nu

  • Automatic transmission
  • 84,311 miles

The engine would not start properly after pressing the start button. It would act as if to fire then tick and vibrate or shake at times until the button was pressed, sometimes taking several attempts before working. This happens more so when it cold and humid outside and usually in the mornings or evenings. The car is unreliable and felt unsafe.

Elantra Limited 1.8L Nu

  • Automatic transmission
  • 50,000 miles

Noise was noticed this past winter (2018-2019). Engine had around 50k miles, maintained with full synthetic oil and Wix filters every 5k miles. Took it to dealer where I was told that it was the oil and filter. I knew it was bs but agreed to have them change the oil again and install an oem filter. Nothing changed. Before the oil change the agreed that the engine was ticking after the change they tell me not to worry about the noise because the engines are "bullet proof". Not happy, we bought a new car and expected years of trouble free service.

Elantra Value Edition 1.8L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 39,000 miles

Saw on Google and other websites where a lot of people of this same model and engine type have had this type of problem. I'm planning on taking mine back to the dealer this upcoming week. Not very happy.
